Show Me Your Corner Sink / Corner Window
Comments (7)That's a mid demo shot. I bought the house partly because of that corner sink. Some romantic housewife gene popped up and thought "won't it be nice to wash dishes and look at that view!" Mind you, she (the romantic housewife gene) and I, so rarely wash dishes that it was a goofy thought, but all of that light streaming into the kitchen, winter and summer, and the gorgeous view, just call to you to take a shot at dishwashing :oP In the new kitchen the sink will be in the same location, but everything else changes. We've also inset it 3 inches on each side. I can't imagine having lovely windows like that an not setting your sink there. With a view...why would you chose to look at a wall instead?...See MoreShow me the soffit/molding/trim above your window!
Comments (4)Personally...I have to tell you, then when I see a window in the middle of a run, I do like to see that decorative board tie them together, so I'd take this as a design yea verses nea :) (Although I am known as the soffit police girl around my place). My plumbers kept telling me I was going to have a one or two inch soffit that had to run the legnth of the kitchen, including the window area, and I said "Nope" get rid of it...somehow they did (perhaps they just cut the pipes) :oP But it's gone. The way your's is though in my mind sounds ok to me. I think the trim idea you've found is a great option :)...See MoreAnyone have a kitchen sink in bay window?
Comments (1)Do you mean a garden window that sticks out and has shelves for your plants? I have that behind my sink. I love it, but I have to stand on a stool to reach the back of it to clean and it's not easy. The plants love it. I wish some folks would post pictures if they have them. My lower shelf (tile) has become "the" place for me to put a kazillion pet bowls (I have 4 parrots and 5 dogs) to drain dry on a towel, and my plants don't look so pretty. I need inspiration! hehe One other thought about them... I think kitchens look a little softened if you have some fabric in them, like a window topper. I'm not so sure mine lends itself to a window topper. I'm still trying to figure that out....See MoreBay window over kitchen sink
Comments (6)We have one now and will be putting in another when we move the kitchen in the near future. Ours is 4" above the counters and 18" deep. We like it because it lets sunlight in the room for a longer period of time during the day. The new one will be south facing, so we're getting light throughout the day and can maximize cabinets on the west facing walls (the east walls will be interior). That being said, it does collect dust. I keep my unnecessary kitchen decor up there to look pretty while not getting in the way. Of course, that stuff collects dust as well. I also made a valance that hangs about 10" with beaded balls that look pretty in the light. I lined it in an interesting stripe that looks pretty from outside as well. My husband is almost 6'4", so he has window cleaning duty. I take the fifth when it comes to how often we clean windows. We have a step stool. We do not go mental when things are not 100% spotless. I'll clean up the space in the existing window and try to figure out how to post a picture for you later today....See Moredocmamma
