You'd see it from the entrance when you walk in from the foyer. I'm sure your windows are a great conversation piece and i know everyone must love them! they're awesome! honestly the only reason i was calling budget blinds in the first place is because i have a gift certificate. :) I'm not interested in paying $500 on roman shades so i'm not sure why i'm bothering. I've heard their prices are expensive. what if you decide you no longer want it on your doors? Can you get it off? Do you buy another piece of glass and stick in or over it? Is it as easy as painting between the lines? I'm not super duper artistic but i think i can trace and do that! I saw on your other thread something about you used a computer program? ...i know i just asked a lot of questions.

Andee-Yes thankfully the wood trim is in very nice condition and I do like the look of the inside mount. No, I do not need the privacy as the view is of our side yard and the front walk. The only one who looks out that window is the dog and he stands on the fireplace hearth to do it! Annie-Can you elaborate on how you sewed your shades so that the stitching was hidden? I could sew a pocket on the top of the shade to insert the rod so that I could keep the inside mount. Also, there are between the glass blinds in the window which can be opened and closed, but not raised and lowered. I can remove them and thought I would as I think it may look better without them. When I make blackout lined draperies, to decrease the amount of fabric/bulk in my double folded hems, headers & side seams, I don't fold the lining into them. I fold & press the drapery fabric, but do not stitch it. Then, I lay the blackout lining on to the drape fabric & cut the lining (to meet up with the edge of the finished edges). Then, I tuck the lining under every folded side & header, pin & stitch. I leave the lining un-tucked along the bottom hem...the lining will not need to be stitched inside that hem. When all done, each of my side seams and the header have only one layer of blackout lining inside of them. I don't know if this strategy will help in your situation, but it's worth some thought. Below are some photos that might help explain what I am trying to say. Ignore how wrinkled the blackout lining is. After pleating & hanging these drapes, the wrinkles all went away. This shows the right side seam and lower hem double folded & pressed. Lay blackout lining on top. Cut blackout lining to length & width - up to the edges so you can tuck them inside the side seams & header. Header on the left, bottom hem on the right. Lining inserted into folded header & side seams. Ready to pin & stitch. Lower hem of lining does not get tucked in.

You sort of have to wait till you get your dream rug. If you think you are having a hard time now buying a rug try also throwing in a match to drapes. Anyway, as a hypothetical say the red-ish, navy, blue-ish and cream(?) rug you are using as a fill in was the one you were keeping...you could then do a navy drape (looks great with the yellow wall).
