If the yellow you are using is really pale, I cannot see how the final effect with any color red island can be Golden Arches. That said, the watercolor-ish stain on the green island francoise47 links to above points out another approach to precluding too harsh a look. I had been trying for the same washed look for accent cabinets in my kitchen, along the lines of the coral-red island in chinkle's finished kitchen. I was unable to figure out quickly whether that effect was achieved with milk paint or a stain or some other way, so I ended up going a different direction. Still, I think a washed-looking finish is a way to introduce some vibrant color while still keeping it soft. I would go with your original vision to the point of painting a large piece of wallboard, cardboard or wood the color you envision for the island, then see how it looks in situ and adjust as needed. One of my houzz pet peeves is when designers who have nothing to do with a project chime in and guess paint colors. And most of them do a terrible job. Then when you do a houzz search for a particular color most of the results are bad guesses.

on my monitor, it's an off white with a light grayish green undertone..(i'm sure there's a name for it..a shorter one..but I don't know it). a bit similar to my Doric White(Dunn Edwards), in certain hours and in certain light The pic you're looking at, was taken in a space X though, and maybe brightened and photoshopped. And then it comes to our monitors and everybody's is a bit different. Add to it a slightly different perception of colors.. I do love my color A LOT..in my particular home. It doesn't lean yellow, that's for sure Ii does lean a tad green.. a tad gray green ..gives a feeling of milkiness too(is there a word like that?) not a cream though. Milk as it comes fresh just as they milk a cow(oh childhood memories). I'd say ivory but ivory is a bit too yellow in comparison? Something from green onyx in it, too. Even if one of us guesses it-it wouldn't be extremely helpful as to how this color will behave in your own space It might be a nice starting point though
