A tufted. skirtless ottoman or a thick glass topped oval table would be my choices for this lovely room. Since you already have a lot of wood and wood tones present in the room, I personally think it could use a different texture, such as glass to "lighten" up the space.

I think nanny's suggestion of glass is good. I would also consider a slate or stone top(wood or metal base) in a color family similar to the fireplace, to bring some lighter tones into the seating space.

A glass coffee table would be my first choice. The room has a very solid look because of all the wood and dark leather and the glass would give it some sparkle and lightness. A metal frame/legs would be a nice counterpoint to the wood. It's already a very attractive room.

I second a tufted ottoman just like Nanny recommended. I think it would look great in your room. BTW, your room is very, very nice and I love the treatment on the walls.

Just about everything in the room is CL! The two bergere chairs are Henredon - picked them up for $200 - they were $2500 EACH originally (have the receipts). The sofa is a Hancock and Moore, prolly paid a bit too much for it, and the other chair is a Lilian August CL find! I can't believe I actually found pieces that work together, second hand!

I think a round tufted ottoman could be very nice. It's an opportunity for softness and color with fabric. We have a leather couch too, and I was thinking a kilim ottoman would be perfect.

I am jealous of your CL finds! I'm been watching ours closely for some bergere chairs. Beautiful room! I think a tufted ottoman would look wonderful with your other pieces.

I love first round tufted ottoman you posted...so pretty! I also like the round glass one. I think the last JCPenney one doesn't go with your beautiful room. What do you have on your walls, it's gorgeous!!

The finish on my walls are just a buttery yellow base paint, with a colorwash I mixed using Perfetto glaze and a mixture of burnt umber/burnt sienna.

I hope you'll be happy with the round ottoman but still feel that a glass and metal coffee table would have looked really great in your living room. I'm adding a picture of my living room just to give you an idea of what I'm thinking of. Of course you have to decide what works for you, that's all that really matters. I found a coffee table, that I'd like opinions about, on CL. It is a John-Richard (sold at Neiman Marcus), and retailed for $1900 (she says she has the receipts). She just had it recaned, which cost $500 (covered by the movers who damaged the piece). What do you think? Is it too tribal?

That's a lot of justification for the price of the table-- is she asking a reasonable price?

I don't think this table fits in with your decor as funkyart mentioned. It looks too big for the room. I think glass will unify the room more.

The table looks bigger than it is - 36". The table in the room now is 50x32, and is a monster, IMO.

But still, I'm thinking you guys are right. The style just doesn't fit. I'm buying some chairs from her, and she offered the coffee table as as package deal. But it is NOT cheap, and I'm not in love with it. Now to find a glass table I can love...

I think I found it!! And for $110 on CL. I'll post pix of it in the room once my dh brings it home tonight. :-D
