How is Everyone's Day Going?

I have had a busy morning. Yesterday I got a nice big bag of clothing from a relative, mostly new with tags on them and I got those hung up. Then I started baking. I have made 8 pies this morning. All have homes to go to except one and it will probably be divided up and some of it leave here also. I baked mostly black raspberry. I also baked cherry, apple and peach. I got my mess all cleaned up and a load of laundry in washing. I am now ready to take a break. It is rainy and 61 here in central Indiana.

What is everyone else up to and how is your weather?

Yum! I love pie. I bet your house smells good! I just returned home from Kmart. They have double coupons-the ad says up to 75Â¢, but thats a misprint, its really up to and including $2 coupons that are doubled. My total before coupons was $100, after coupons $37 and that included $10 that I spent on 2-2 pks of king size pillow cases that were clearanced to 75% off.

I just had leftovers (pork chop cooked with Coke and dry onion soup mix) over rice with some applesauce. Now its time to start laundry and ironing. Debating on taking the kids to the pool for a bit after school. They get out one hour early on Wednesdays here in Florida.

It's raining here, but fairly warm, MSN says it's 61 here. I have the door to the sunroom open to get the stuffiness out.

Been dusting, vacuuming and doing laundry this morning. Have yesterday's dishes in the sink soaking to load them up.

The repairman is supposed to be coming anytime now to fix my treadmill.

Lauren stayed home one more day. She will be going to school tomorrow.

I want to plant my garden but it keeps raining. Everytime I have a day off from work it's raining. I have plants out on the deck and a bunch of seeds. I just need to go get a couple loads of manure. I also need to put the trap I got from animal control out so I can catch the groundhog that's in our backyard. I just don't want to do it while it's raining.

I read that you had your furnace fixed. For future reference, if your furnace is gas - and is - for the sake of argument - 5 years old or thereabouts, there is a sensor in the furnace that accumulates dust/dirt and that must be cleaned by a technician. This happens despite annual cleanings of the furnace. The first time it happened to us we thought we had switched on the air conditioning. The repair man told us it is a problem with all of the newer furnaces. The fast, but temporary fix, is to turn the thermostat all the way down - and then back up high again - but not to turn the furnace on. But you only get so many successful heat returns this way. This has happened to us twice - and to many others this year in the Toronto area - all with furnaces about our "age". Three weeks ago we thought it was happening again and I was up all night doing the turn down/turn up bit because it was freezing cold here and I was concerned about the pipes. The service man came, but of course just after I had finally got the down/up working again - but while he saw a bit of build-up on the sensor he didn't think that was the problem. He showed us a small, rather opaque looking circle on the furnace and told us that when it happened again, to start counting the flashes - and keep note of the times it happened - also if the flashes were say 9 fast, 3 slow etc. So we did this for 2 days and finally the down and up wouldn't work. They sent a senior fellow with a new electrical board who said that it was unusual for this part to go on a furnace not quite 5. The part cost Cdn. $400 but was covered under warranty. We have a maintenance agreement with our gas provider for repairs only - but come Feb. 10 when furnace turns 5, warranty will expire. Feb. 9 we are switching back to maintenance PLUS - for the parts. I am watching the furnace carefully though because other people have had their electrical boards go this winter too - all on furnaces of our vintage - plus other parts as well - one person has had 2 replaced. One lady asked what had happened to furnaces that lasted 25 years - obviously a "young" person. In our old house, building in 1932, the oil furnace was still going strong in 2000. The gas furnace that was in our current house lasted 17 years (which we were told was now considered normal) - so it was about 7 when we moved in. I wonder if the current one will last 10. The air conditioner had to be replaced in spring 2007 - and replaced with a 14 Seer. People were making jokes as they passed by our small bungalow with the super giant 14 Seer in front of it. Well, they aren't laughing now, as many people on the street have had to have their units replaced. I hope that you don't have any further furnace problems.

Sorry you gals had the glass mess. If anything gets dropped on my downstairs floors is is bound to break. Tile over concrete. Corelle is one of the worse things to clean up. It really shatters. I hope you got it all up as sometimes glass flies everywhere and later you wonder where that came from. Hope the rest of the day is better for you both. Sue

Silvia, nice little tomatoes! Of course, the rest of your garden is as spectacular as ever. I can't wait to see it in a few years when all those trees mature. This is all I have by way of tomatoes waiting to be planted right now. Everglades are very overgrown, but will be buried deep, so that's o.k. The other two are Cherokee Purple clones I took right before the freeze "just in case." Not shown is one spindly Supersweet 100 that is destined to be planted out in the outside garden, or in my neighbor's yard, if we can work something out, which I'm sure we can. They want veggies, I need sun. There is also one little red pepper plant hiding in there grown from a store-bought fruit, so don't know how that will work out, but I'll see, I guess. If it works out, I will be able to grow much more than I am now.

I dropped Joe off at work then brought the vehicle in for regular maintenance. I had to wait 45 minutes for the courtesy vehicle to bring me home. I had breakfast then went for a 2 hour walk downtown taking pictures. The sun came out and it's gorgeous out with little wind. I took almost 300 photos. Just finished lunch, not sure what I'll do the rest of the afternoon.

we have the clouds and 70, but the rain isn't due in til night...did my walking today at meijers and actually remember a couple of items i've forgotten for 2 days, lol..

will have a full weekend and have to get the bath's cleaned...all the beds have clean sheets...besides mother's day, we're celebrating my only dgs's 4th bday...just saw his proposed party (pic-nick, cute right?) is suppose to be rainy...thank goodness, dd2 has a big enough house! with all the grands, parents and us, that's 17 alone...not mention his other grandparents, and friends...

i so envy your ability to make a pie...i could never master a crust worth eating, although the fillings were good, lol..

you did remind me of ever present laundry...most is done but have a bunch to put away...

I just returned from having the sutures removed from my hand. The hand doctor here did it for me. Later I am going to lunch with 3 girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. Last week I didn't feel like going out. It is 63 here and fixin' to rain.

Went to water aerobics class, even though the clouds were threatening.
As I got there pool closed.
And then the LOUD VERY LOUD weather siren went off.

Bad weather has now passed, and I'll get out and about.
Dinner somewhere.

Pretty good.
We went over to the mall down the road to visit our new Coldwater Creek store. Met the sales staff, bought a shirt.

When I went to put my windbreaker on this morning, realized that it was old enough to legally drink...and looked like it.
So - went into the mall and got a new spring windbreaker - at 50% off.

Stopped off for groceries at he Supermarket.

Then, feeling I had stimulated the economy enough for the day - drove home.

Pretty good, had good turn out for or Senior meeting, most Snowbirds are back and some of the seniors that have moved into Minot were back to visit. But sad to hear about one of my GD's girl friend. See posting from me about needing prayers and good thoughts.
Glad my GD has her own apt, just a couple blocks from us and glad she is doing so good in her job and the baby is growing like a weed.
Glad most of us here are doing great.
