Oh, they've started to arrive already. I was going to wait and open them on my birthday, especially since it is still only June but . . . my willpower didn't hold out. I thought, well I'll just open the first one. And then it was so pretty, I had to open the second. And now that I've started, I'll just have to keep opening them as they arrive :)

Polardream (Sue) - Hope your trip is going well. Greece and Italy at this time of year must be an absolute treat. The block is very beautiful with so many different purples. Thank you so much! It was my first birthday block ever :)

Just as a side note: I'm still very new to quilting, in general, and I don't know too many different quilt blocks yet. If you use a "named" quilt block, could you just let me know what the design is called? Unless it is a very simple one, I probably won't know :) Thanks!

Mail was delayed over Canada Day, but 2 more packages arrived today.

toolgranny (Linda) - It is most definitely purple and I love it :) Thank you so much, the block is very beautiful. I especially like the purple and gold fabric that you used for the larger squares. Purple and gold just looks wonderful together, doesn't it!

nana24 (Sally) - Thank you so much, the block is stunning. I don't even know how to do those borders around the squares, and it looks great. And thanks for the extra kleenex holder, in matching fabric no less :) I am also always searching in my purse for kleenex and this is not only pretty, but will come in handy as well!

Happy Birthday tomorrow! I'm really sorry that my block(s) will be late. I will be putting them in the mail tomorrow. I actually started working on your block about a month ago, but I wanted to use a new technique that I was learning - upside down applique (UDA). So I quickly designed a block with a simple boarder in hopes that I could make a really neat center for the block. Well, by the time I learned UDA and made the center, it didn't look as good as I thought it should for your birthday block. So I decided to make a center with a lot of different purples. Well...that didn't look too good with the boarder that I already had completed. SO, I made a simple pinwheel center, sewed it all together and THEN realized that in my haste, I made your square too big!!! So I started again, and made a nice straightforward 12.5" block that you will be receiving. You are also going to get the one that is too big, and since I had the other two center pieces, I decided to make them into a little quilt card for you. So you will see all of my attempts at your block. Sorry that it will end up late, but I wanted you to know that it was a comedy of errors that resulted in the delay. In any case, I hope you have a wonderful birthday and I hope my package to you doesn't take too long to arrive.

Oh my goodness! Thank you for all the birthday wishes, it was a pretty good day here except for the constant rain :) I've been saving the most recent arrivals to open on my birthday, and they are all so special. Thank you all.

My computer has had some issues so I haven't been online a lot lately, and I have quite a few blocks to catch up on. Sorry for the delay :)

Tara (tdsully) - Such lovely purples and a beautiful block. Thank you also for the information about the quilt block as well. I love little stories like that :)

Brenda (abbigail) - I really like the speckled purple fabric you found, my fabric store doesn't have anything quite like that. Thank you so much for the block and for the extra piece of fabric you included, I'm already thinking about how to work it into my sashing :)

Penny (PixieAB) - Thank you for the beautiful birthday block, I really like all the fabrics you used, all so different and they work really well together! Thank you.

Helen (HLAC) - I really like this quilt block as well and I'm sure it looks really pretty in blues and greens too. Thank you so much, and also for including the instructions for future reference. Shades of blue sounds really good too, lol! I'd love to see a photo of your charity quilt once you've finished it.

Rebecca (cannahavanna) - Such a stunning Dresden plate and six different purples that go so well together too. It is really beautiful, and the applique is so perfect :) I wish I could do it so well! Thank you.

And last but not least for not, as this is the only block that actually arrived in the mail on my birthday and gave me a smile :)

Jen (mrseldoo) - I haven't gotten your envelope yet but mail can take quite a while (as I have discovered) from USA/Canada, so it may just take some more time!

I will try to post a picture once they have all arrived. I've never posted a photo on here before, but I do have access to a digital camera that I can borrow, so I think I'll have to figure out how to get a photo online. These blocks are so beautiful, I can't wait to show them all off!

I am back from vacation -- loved LOVED loved San Diego -- the weather is wonderful down there. Nice, summery, warm weather but not uncomfortably hot and certainly not humid. No real rain while we were there and it gets nice and cooler in the evenings, which is perfect for a nice walk down the beach.

Lola, I did get your envelope in the mail while I was gone. Thank you so much for all the work (and extra work) you put into my birthday block :) All of the attempts are really quite beautiful, including the ones you made into a card. I love all the different fabrics you chose to use as well. I think I'll make myself another slightly larger purple block to match yours and make 2 pillows from them . . . anyways, thank you so much, I love them!

Jen - I still haven't gotten your envelope in the mail and its been quite a while since you sent it out. Almost a month I guess. I'll let you know when it arrives. It will probably get here via China or something crazy like that :)
