Very funny. The thought of using that kind of dancing tickles my funny bone.

It's sort of popular in some churches, judging by the televised services I see while flipping through the channels on Sunday.

Air Gap/Soap Dispenser or other solution?

If you have a hole for the air gap but use it for soap or whatever instead, you can always pull out the soap dispenser/lotion dispenser/reverse osmosis faucet etc., and put an air gap in there if you need to. It's a very simple swap. I certainly wouldn't encourage you to just opt out of the air gap if that would cause a health problem, but it doesn't. High loop and air gap are two approaches to the same issue - backflow. Air gap is the old fashioned way to deal with it, high loop is the modern way. Generally speaking, I'm a big fan (big fan!) of doing everything to code, but this is an exception. I don't know what TX is doing, but in CA I believe this code to be a remnant of older technology that's just waiting to be written out.

I keep copies of my kids text books at home so they don't have to truck them back and forth to school. I buy used textbooks so they are fairly cheap and my three are close in age so they reuse many of the same textbooks. Their backpacks still weigh a lot, but not as bad as they could be. When the kids get home from school, backpacks are emptied, homework is done, and then the backpacks get hung up on hooks along the stairway that goes to our basement. The hooks are set into studs, so no worries about wall damage. My oldest is 13 and we've had the same hooks up since he started carrying a backpack.

You do not want to end up with a bed full of black plastic whatever you do. That is an evil curse upon gardening. So covering plastic with a layer of leaf mulch hoping it will kill things and you can plant in it is a horrible idea. The kill rate with that method for what you are dealing would be poor at best. A one time kill with glyphosate is nothing to worry about. Chronic use of it to replace better cultural forms of weed control is another issue. A more effective way to kill everything with plastic is to solarize it, basically cook it. Use clear plastic, no mulch at all and let it cook in the sun. This obviously won't work in shaded sections around the house.
