Help deciding on holes in granite: Soap Dispenser/Air Switch?
Comments (4)My kitchen does not need to pass inspection so I was also thinking I would skip the air gap. That would then be 4 things placed at the sink. What would be a good placement for those? It won't be symmetrical since the faucet will be centered. So, where should the soap dispenser, filter faucet and air switch go? What would look the best? Thanks again!...See MoreAir Gap/Dispenser Combo: I'm Sure I Saw It Here
Comments (3)I have this from the link above. I have since seen them at Home Depot in my area as well (SF Bay area). Yes, the soap reservoir is fairly small but it hasn't been a huge problem or inconvenience for us. I'm sure this would be greatly affected by your individual soap usage, however. It is NOT compatible with the Never MT. Because the soap reservoir is on top of the air gap portion there is no way I can think of to get the hose from a Never MT up to the soap dispensing part....See MorePlacement of Air Switch, Air Gap, spray and soap dispenser
Comments (4)Ditto to Breezygirl's point #2. I am linking a thread on why you don't need an air gap, and/or if your Code requires one, what to do about that (i.e. substitute the soap dispenser after the inspector leaves). Also, are you sure you want a side spray? A faucet with a built-in spray is better IMHO. With a side spray, you have to hold down the handle to keep it on spray, you will get less water pressure than you would with a faucet and built-in spray, and side sprays tend to break faster than faucets with built in spray. Also, it would be nice to have one less hole in your countertop, and one less hole to clean around. So, if you take my advice, you are left with 3 holes: the faucet (if it's a single-hole faucet), the air switch and the soap dispenser. I would put the soap dispenser on the left and the air switch on the right. Don't put the soap dispenser too far in the corner - there are people on this forum who have done that, and don't like it. I have my soap dispenser 8.5" (measuring on-center) from my single-hole faucet. Comments (5)Google it, take a look at the image results. What you’ll see is that there are no real rules, except that the main faucet is centered - you can arrange them as you like. That said, I would keep the filtered water farther away from the cleaning elements (If you have the real estate to do so), because you’re more likely to have a sponge in your hand or just a dirty hand where you put the soap dispenser. You want to keep the filtered water clean. Optimally, if you have the space, I would place filtered water to one side, faucet in the middle, even spacing for the others on the other side, air gap to the right with the same offset as the filtered water - but as you can see below, you can do whatever you want. In this drawing the blue spaces are equal, and the red spaces are equal. Order is, from left to right, filtered H2O, faucet, air switch, soap, air gap....See More- 11 years ago
