Howdy! It's pouring rain right now. Woke up this morning to rain and very small hail hitting the window. I slept in the livingroom last night. Been sleeping on the loveseat since I've been sick the past few weeks. I'm feeling better, but my back likes the loveseat better than my bed.

My dad called to wish me a happy mother's day. I don't even think Alex knows what day this is. LOL! Talked to my brother, who recently moved back home too. Lauren won't be home from her dad's till later tonight.

A friend of mine, her son, me and Alex might be going out to eat this evening.

How's everyone's weather, especially in the south? I'm worried about everyone down there.

I'm getting ready to walk on the treadmill, haven't been on it in a while. Hope all the moms are having a nice Mother's Day! Everyone else hope you're enjoying the weekend!

Good afternoon-I woke up early, went out for breakfast at McDonalds. Took my bag of food and coffee to a park near the water. Sat there and enjoyed the morning sun. The right two people said happy mothers Day, but apparently no gifts this year. I made a chocolate cake last night, and DH is making barbecued ribs for dinner tonight. If it stays nice, we'll eat outdoors. And I have to call my own Mom and wish her a Happy Mothers day. and her last day of being age 84. Monday is her 85th birthday!

Hi Kath. Glad you're feeling better. That was nice of your dad to call you. My son doesn't keep track of things like Mother's Day either, his sister has to remind him.

Our weather is a little overcast right now, and on the cool side. It's supposed to rain later. That's why I planted my new blueberry bush, and transplanted my strawberry plants this morning. I also walked the dogs, made a shepherd's pie for tomorrow, baked a pecan pie for tonight, and put a roast with carrots and potatoes in the oven for tonight. I'm debating on dinner rolls. I'm trying to lose weight, and I'm being slowly successful. I want to make a nice meal for my mil though.

I'm planning to get on the treadmill too. Yesterday I felt lazy, but today I feel more peppy.

I am so happy you will see your daughter soon, kathsgrdn. Not having a nice regular sleep pattern is exhausting. Have you tried guided imagery to help you get to sleep? I have spent the day trying to organize the family's schedule through the end of the year. My boys are in different schools, so Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks need more coordination than usual. I have accomplished nothing at all on that score. My husband's schedule is the controlling factor and he has a few things up in the air making planning a pain. I will wait until later next week to nail things down. Mama pinky, fish on the grill sounds lovely. I will try adding Parmesan to my oven baked potatoes in the future (I often use salt, pepper and cumin.) No worries about email- I know all about that ;-) Marilyn_Sue, what fun to get to shop with daughters! I have only boys. Nobody likes to shop with me :-(

I was sitting in my library doing a crossword puzzle when I heard a loud bang outside. I immediately thought there must have been an accident down on the state route, or someone may have hit my mailbox. Got up and walked to the big picture window and a red van is in the left lane of my road, speeding up, as it left, I saw an Amish buggy upset in the ditch in front of my house! The van continued on, barely stopping at the stop sign and turned right onto the state route. I hurried and got my phone and dialed 911 as the Amish man and lady were crawling out of the buggy. She climbed up the embankment, he went to the horse. The horse was on it's side motionless at first, then began squirming but couldn't get up. The 911 operator asked me the usual questions and also if I saw which direction the van went. Meanwhile a good Samaritan in a pickup had stopped to help. So I go outside to comfort the lady, who was not hurt. Neither was her husband. In fact I was more shook up than she was! Their groceries had spilled out of the buggy, the left rear wheel was bent. The man worked to get the harness off the horse, which to me looked to be in distress. oh my gosh. I was worried I was going to have to witness a horse being put down. The pickup driver and the Amishman finally got the harness and bridle off the horse and the horse struggled to its feet - unharmed. He tied it to one of my trees in the yard. Squad came, asked their questions, I told them what I knew, altho I confessed to not seeing the actual impact. BUT - there was red paint on the wheel! All three of us heard the EMT say, "We got the van, it was stopped". Well, when the State Patrol got there, he told us they did NOT have the van responsible. In fact because we couldn't give a license plate number, "There is very little we can do". Oh man. Well I've seen this van plenty of times going up and down my road, he said look for damage and try to get a plate number. I doubt the driver will be using that van for a long while! In the end I was able to phone a neighbor who hauls Amish and she made arrangements with another hauler who had a long enough horse trailer to load the horse and the buggy and take the Amish couple home. I invited the couple to wait in my house because it was so cold. About 45min later they were safely on their way back home. whew. I don't think I'd be very good in an emergency, I was nearly in tears while talking to 911! lol

Good afternoon. I'm glad you are feeling better Kath. I slept in the recliner for a week after my surgery. It was much more comfortable than my bed.

Jammer and I went to a local cafÃ© for breakfast this morning. We saw lots of friends there and had a good meal. Then we went to church. I'm not sure what to think of this but about 5 or 6 people came up to me to tell me how good I looked. I ask Jammer if I've been looking so bad before??? Anyway, it was a good service and I had tears in my eyes for most of it. I know that worries Jammer, but I was just sitting there thinking about how happy I am, so the tears were good ones.

Jammer is out tilling our garden right now, with the help of his 2 sons and several of their friends. We have already eaten some of the squash, we have peppers ready to pick and have lots of tomatoes. I am anxiously waiting for them to ripen!!!

Lucky you Maryann. We are just now getting to plant our gardens here in Nebraska. Mom and I went to church too. Today would have been my Dad's 84th birthday. It is my younger sister and her DH's 40th anniversary today, and her DD had her baby girl dedicated at church. We took Mom out to dinner last night, because we knew today would be a zoo trying to get seated.
I hope all our southern friends are safe, with no storms in your area.

DH cooked me breakfast, now we're heading out to dinner. Two of four kids have called. DH says I'm batting .500, if I were a baseball player. Told him one doesn't count, wants me to come and babysit for 3 to 5 days.
Would love to get my hands on that 4 month old, she is just gorgeous, with lots of dark hair!

Just came in from lunch with Parke.
Polenta fried green tomato stack with crab and goat cheese sauce.
We shared, a delicious decadent white chocolate bread pudding!

Now Parke is zzzzzzzz'ing away on my bed.
Guess I'll hit the sofa!

I have just come in from working in the yard all afternoon. It does look great, b/c DH spends more time working in it than I do!

We went to church and out to lunch with DD#1, her DH and their 3 girls. It was crowded, but I had wonderful chicken fajitas. They're begining to wear off and I'm wondering what's for dinner?

DS brought me 2 hanging baskets, and DH gave me 2 hanging baskets. They know me well! Talked to DD#2 and they had just landed at DFW after their trip to NYC. I know 3 little boys that will be glad to see them! I took DGS#2 to Best Buy and bought him a laptop. We shopped around and they had the best price. I'd rather gotten it at Sam's, but you go where the money's right. He is VERY excited.

Beautiful, sunshine here today. Getting a little too warm, but that's summer in East Texas. Hope everyone had a good Mother's Day!
