The Kitchen Table

I lost a kitty yesterday:(

When I got up yesterday morning I was in the bathroom, second floor, looked out the window and saw some huge poop on the roof and a small kitty poop a little bit away from it. Thought what in the world? Then our neighbor calls and tells us our little Laya was found in the street. DH went to get her, she had been gutted in her underside. This morning there eas another huge bunch of poop on the roof. I don't know if it's a giant raccoon or a bobcat. It wasn't a very good Mothers Day.

How awful! Have you warned other neighbors that there's some kind of predator out there? I don't think it's a raccoon, so be very careful.

I still have 70 pound black bird dog Beau, 30 pound Honey and Spanky the little female cat who missed the lesson on killing rodents. Spanky weighs about 8 pounds and she plays with mice but loses them. I worry about Spanky because I think the white dog may have killed Puffy. Spanky is the only one who can intimidate Honey; she slaps him for no reason and he is afraid of her. I keep thinking about where I could put a fence but cats don't stay behind fences anyway. A fence could protect Honey but he has a very big yard behind the electric wire and shock collar radio fence and still gets upset when Beau and I are in the garden where he can't go. I live in the country about 1/10 of a mile off the road and I like my animals to be free to run and explore. That is more dangerous for them. Honey and Beau play with the white dog and I can't get Beau to run it off. It is never here when I am outside but I know it is coming because it moved a bottle of Windex that I left outside. I found the Windex outside the radio fence area where Honey can go. Beau is a mature dog and does not fool around with Windex bottles and solar lights which are also being moved here.

Oh sweetie, that was your mom alright, showing you she is still there in spirit with you and always will be. I am so sorry about your mom. Nothing I can say will make it better or bring her back. I wish I could perform that miracle for you. Know she will always be with you and in your heart. My mom's been gone just over 2 years and I still can't believe it. It is so far from being 'real' in my mind even still. She gave birth to me and was the closest spiritual person to me in my life. It just sucks. Please take care of yourself. Duane

I'm so sorry about Maggie. I know also how attached we can become to our pets. I'll never forget my favorite dog when I was growing up. When Teddy got killed, I cried and cried and cried like it was a person who had died. After I married, we had a few that we got very attached to also and then was so sad when they left us. After my daughter was killed, my husband and I decided to get two more dogs and we love them to death, and I know we will have to go through their loss too. I'm like you, though. I like the name Jinx....I used to have a horse named Jinx. I thought it was a little odd that no one mentioned the snake. You know that is a cottonmouth, don't you? We have a lot of them here on the bayou. I don't particularly dislike them....actually, my cats keep them out of the yard.

I am so sorry. Poor little Layla. It sounds like a flying predator is in your area. I never let my kitties outside. We have hawks, etc. here.

I am so sorry for your loss, Terilyn. We lost one of our cats a few years ago, we think a fox got her. We found her collar with a hole punctured right thru it (neck bite) and evidence of arterial blood, no sign of her little body anywhere. So we know something about how you're feeling. Just try to imagine that it was fast, though, OK? That hopefully she didn't know what hit her.

I worry all the time about hawks and owls and eagles, mountain lions, bobcats and stray dogs and coyotes. The world is a scary place.

I am very sorry for your loss, sweetie.

I'm very sorry for your loss. For my own peace of mine, I never let any of my cats out. Too many scary things waiting.

Sad! Sorry when anything has to die!

We hit a squirrel on Mother's Day and I still feel bad about that...with a pet it's always worse...
