The corner with the cooktop, oven, and prep sink, I don't think, will work. For one thing, how would you access the plumbing? Everything is very tight there. But, this is a more workable space, I think. I like Bmore's straight runs, since I'm not a big fan of corner units or the counter that goes back into a corner. It's also a simpler plan with room to breathe, and will nicely showcase the view out your French doors.

bmorepanic... Thank you! I like that layout much better then what I came up with in #15. I lean toward more contemporary clean lines and that is the feeling I get from your drawing.

I assume you mean to build out a fake wall by the frig (inset wall) This would allow me to use a regular depth frig (if I wanted to) and still give the look of a built in. unit.

Someone pointed out in a previous thread that I should be concerned with the frig doors banging into the base cabinets? With a "fake wall" built out or 3' of the wall knocked in from the pantry side I won't have a problem?

I assume that is a prep sink in the island. The 4' width of the island should allow for 2 stools? The 18" overhang is perfect.

I see you have room for a microwave. I have read in the appliance forum that those with an Advantium have to switch out base plates in the unit to go from microwave to speed oven. I'll look into different smaller convection/speed oven units and still have a separate. I always loved the look of microwave drawers.

bmore... your layout has become my Layout #16. The more I look at it... the more I like it and feel it'll work nicely. Tomorrow it's suppose to rain so I'll spend my last day of Spring Break trying to do a mock up of it on the 3D program I'm trying to learn.

It looks like the latest versions are losing some of the zones from some of your previous versions. With the option of expanding that wall on the right and adding a prep sink, you open up all sorts of possibilities. My preference would be to keep all the cooking functions on the longer left side and let the right side be your clean up zone and dish storage. The fact that it's also on the same side as your table makes this even more sensible.

With your fridge, prep sink, and stove all on the left, your prep and cooking zones would be less likely to have traffic through them. The prep area, which is where I spend the most time, is right under the window to give you a nice view of your beautiful backyard as you are prepping. Put your microwave under the counter in the island, and it's still close to the fridge. Both the fridge ans MW are accessible to others without really getting in your way while you're cooking. Depending on how and how often you use your oven, put it either under the cooktop, under the island, or in the little space in the bottom left corner. I was envisioning this as your message center, but it could just as easily have a wall oven. Your island could still have seating for guests to keep you company while you're cooking while still having a nice view of the pool.

Here's what I'm picturing:

Holligator... my husband will like this version for several reasons. The new bathroom will be on the other side of the right wall. Logic tells me that would make water and drainage easily accessible. He also, if you read the previous layout threads I posted; has an adversion to having cooking against the right wall. He views this as living area. He came around with having something on this wall as long as it wasn't in the lower portion of the kitchen. That is why I made the bottom area the eating area. Below that is what will be our only family room (no formal living room or formal dining room) . Also on the right between the family room and eating area is the hallway to 2 bedrooms and bathrooms. Tomorrow I"m going to try and come up with a pic of the house layout and and go over these newly posted layouts with him.

This is really exciting for me. I love the clean lines of these new layouts. Lengthening that wall down really is making a huge difference. I'm amazed at how things evolve. I've never done this before and find it interesting how you start out with one thing and end up with something totally different. Kinda reminds me of playing "telephone" as a kid...
