Take heart, the sun WILL shine again! I know it's frustrating, though. We have been through numerous delays ourselves. Our pool dig was started on July 3rd, and due to numerous problems with our contractor, we just received shotcrete last week. Now they say the shell has to cure for two weeks until they can start rockwork. Frustrating! Our original plan of having it done by October has turned into a February plan........maybe. Days pass before anything gets done. I think we are competing with other pools in the area, too. Our site is actually quite a ways away from where our contractor lives - I think that's part of the problem too. Did your contractors give you an estimated completion date? We didn't get one, and certainly wish now that we would have! Hindsight, I guess. Everyone keeps saying it is all worth it in the end - so that keeps me going. Hang in there, you're in good company!

Kekoa...as birdbath says...you are in good company! My dig started the first of October. It is a vinyl liner so in my opinion shouldn't take this long, but...who am I??? This is where I'm sitting and have been for about 4 weeks! There has been a lot of rain, but plenty of unused sunshine as well! Also like birdbath, I'm trying to keep focused on next summer!! :)

I think the "unused sunshine" is what really gets me annoyed. In my case, we had a week of really dry weather and no work. The day they were to deliver some dirt for the grading, we get a torrential thunderstorm (Almost 6 inches of rain in 24 hours!) That will probably set the timetable back a few more weeks!

I am right there with ya kekoa! I bet there's been about 2-3 weeks of no work. It absolutely baffles me! And I thought that picking one whose name was on the door would mean he would work harder! Dummy me!! :) I'm in about the same boat of waiting for it to dry out. Well, good thing for us we have 4 or 5 months for them to waddle around in! I am thinking though...this just may save me the cost of a cover! Good luck to you!

The problem is usually because these contractors try to work as many jobs at the same time as they possibly can. It always seems that the days they set aside for your job always has some type of delay (weather or a delay with another job)To be honest midtngal, your job looks way behind schedule. Vinyl liner pools are supposed to be pretty fast to install. At least with my job, the gunite is in. I think I would be bugging your contractor to step it up!

Oh I'm very aware that he is dragging his feet here. I'm having a hard time justifying getting him to finish it just to close it. Besides, it's about at the point I don't need to worry about a cover....I won't have a pool that will need it!! :) There's a guy on another web site who had more done the first day than I've had in these 7 weeks! Let Feb get here and it's still looking this and he will have me ALL over him!

Well I dont feel that bad anymore from seeing what your going through midtrigal! At least my gunite is done and right now its just the weather holding everything up. But it is our rainy season and there is more rain in the forcast. Pray for sun!

Yeah, isn't it funny how you can always find someone who is having a worse time of it all than yourself. I see on this forum that some folks are having to deal with liens on their house when the work isn't even finished! So, see I'm worse off than you, they are worse off than me...blah, blah, blah. It's all just a happy "adventure" right?? I'm praying for sun as well, although we have had it this week and guess what...NO WORK!! Whatever!

Sorry midtngal, didnt mean to rub "salt in the wound". Have you been getting after your contractor? My contractor has a good reputation here and I have good communication with them. I have the job foremans cell number and I try to keep updated on the status of my job. Did your contractor give you a reason for the delay? Good luck and I hope they get their butts in gear!

Oh kekoa...I'm PAST getting upset about this! It doesn't do anything but make me mad and doesn't bother anyone else. :) My PB is the owner and the contractor all in one. I was under the impression he had a very good reputation as well. Couldn't find anything or anyone to say otherwise. But, nothing else has been done. As I was hanging my Christmas lights on Sat. he came pulling up around 1 pm with a small crew like he was gonna do something. I just looked at him and laughed and told him how funny he was. See I knew he was going on a trip today for a week, so it was really pointless for him to be there. I think it was all for show. He says he's been waiting on the electrician to do his thing (sound familiar??) and has been for 3 weeks. Well, last time I checked it was HIS name on that door, so he is ultimately responsible. Whatever! Like I said, come Feb. and he isn't done, he is not going to know what hit him!! :) The she-devil will come out!
