Drapery Hardware

Hi all, any thoughts on matching drapery hardware throughout the house? I have a colonial with double windows in front... using ball fringe country curtains in both windows in the front of the house (dining room and living room). My dining room has gold accents, but the rest of the house is brushed nickle. Trying to decide if I should go with a rod iron for both rooms, or if it's OK to mix and match -- antique brass in the dining, rod iron or brushed nickle in the living room.

Personally I go with what works best for the room. If the "rooms" are part of one larger room than if antique brass works best in your dining room and wrought iron or brushed nickle in the living room than chose which you like best and go for it.

I agree with justgotabme. And if the gold in the dining room is gold painted or just other gold colors rather than actual hardware, then I might go with wrought iron. But if your chandelier is gold, then you might go with whatever color or stain your trim is around that particular dining room window.

Snickysnacker -- the ones I purchased are Robert Eclipse Black-out Energy Saving Panels -- Thermaweave Panel. They are really soft and drape beautifully. Graywings -- the problem is that the way they're hanging in the second bedroom is a workaround. My husband -- who needs to sometimes sleep in there because of a bad back -- took the decorative rod out of the dip in the front of the bracket and just pushed it up against the wall. Not really a good look, and you can't really slide the curtains to open them because the rod is just resting on the back of the bracket,rather than being held securely. But what it showed us is that if these curtains are closer to the window the amount of light that can sneak over the top or around the sides is reduced to almost nothing! Why is it that all the brackets that hold round rods extend at least 4 inches from the wall? I don't need that much clearance. Are there any alternatives? (thank you both for responding!)

Nickel silver is expensive because of the finish. Umbra rods are nice, so I am not sure what you mean by not substantial? Do you mean they are smaller in circumference? I just looked at the RH rods, and if I am looking at the right ones (estate collection with the plain end caps?) their pricing is not high at all for a nice rod. Umbra and others would be comparable. As for silk drapes, did you try JC Penney? They have a number of silk drapery panels that come in brown. If you look for coupons they almost always have something going: silk drapery

Thanks all! The dining room gold comes from the accents on the furniture (draw knobs/pulls/etc.) Right now the chandelier is black, but I was thinking of eventually replacing it for a gold one. Maybe if I went with wrought iron for the whole house, I'd solve all problems.

You're welcome.
And I just realized that I don't think any of my curtain hardware matches the chandelier/light fixture in any room but the sunroom. I don't even notice or think about it unless forced to.
