Drapery Hardware sources?

I really like the drapery hardware from Restoration Hardware. I know I'm hooked on this place and their styles, but the prices are rather high. I'm looking for nickel silver rods with a bracket and simple end caps. I did an online search and came up only with Umbra which didn't have the same substantial look. Suggestions please?

I'm also looking for ready made silk or silk-like drapery panels, preferably in chocolate brown. Are there any online resouces for those? I know about Silk Trading Company, but their prices are quite high. RH's panel prices are still higher than I'd like. These will be mainly decorative, just framing the window. Privacy isn't an issue and the view is lovely, so they will stay open most of the time.

Nickel silver is expensive because of the finish. Umbra rods are nice, so I am not sure what you mean by not substantial? Do you mean they are smaller in circumference? I just looked at the RH rods, and if I am looking at the right ones (estate collection with the plain end caps?) their pricing is not high at all for a nice rod. Umbra and others would be comparable.

As for silk drapes, did you try JC Penney? They have a number of silk drapery panels that come in brown. If you look for coupons they almost always have something going:

Thanks for putting it in perspective. I was speaking about the plain end capped variety. I'll also check Penney, did you mean online or in person?

I agree with justgotabme. And if the gold in the dining room is gold painted or just other gold colors rather than actual hardware, then I might go with wrought iron. But if your chandelier is gold, then you might go with whatever color or stain your trim is around that particular dining room window.

I can't answer your question about the quality of the drapery hardware from Restoration Hardware, but have a suggestion for avoiding the 'one part of the rod smaller than the other' problem. If you buy an adjustable rod (which all are, I believe, unless they are custom) that starts at the size you need, you won't need to expand it and won't have the size difference to deal with. For example, if you need a rod around 60" wide and buy a rod that works for 60"-108", there will probably be a section that is 60" wide with a smaller part or parts that pull out of the 60" section. Don't pull out the smaller parts and you have a rod that is only one size in diameter. Does that make sense?

That’s a beautiful room! Do you have another photo from a little further back? How will the drapes hang- to the sides of the windows? The trim is lovely and I’d hate to block much of the view (and also it will block the light coming in). I like either a thicker diameter rod or a thin wire that almost disappears. The drapes in my living room are functional but I don’t move them often. With proper construction of the materials they should be ok to move and not become damaged.
