need help with size of curtain panels
Comments (5)It's on an empty wall to the back yard, across from our kitchen counter/cabs. I don't have a pic (I am at work...shhhh!). The island is in front of the patio door and kitchen table is in front of the window. Thanks for the mock up. That does look nice, and that's what I was thinking! I just couldn't "visualize it". Nice kitchen and window over the sink! I stare at a wall...I do want to be able to able to close the curtains for privacy at night and possibly to keep it cool in the morning (faces east) so valances will not work....See MoreNeed help picking number + size of curtains
Comments (9)Interesting -- I had thought of doing four panels, but in such a way that two would be in the middle and two on either side. Pushing two panels to each side sounds like a better configuration -- ideally I would just be getting extra-wide curtains, but I haven't yet seen any that I like. As for the the A/Cs: they are both removed when it is not summer, so not there year-round. And we usually try to delay putting them in until it's REALLY hot (we have ceiling fans now so that should help), so it's really only a few months a year. But yes, they would be mostly open when the A/Cs are in. And as for the radiators, the one in the living room does not span the entire width of the windows, so the curtains will be able to close most of the way, maybe not all the way, when the heat is on. My husband likes the idea of having them be windowsill length, but I really hate the way that looks......See Moreneed help with curtain ideas and any other ideas would be very helpful
Comments (3)In open concept things don't have to match they just need to coordinate. Choose colors you want in the space and use them in varying degrees in both parts of the room. The rug you have under the table is too big for that space. I would move it into the living room part of the room but orient it the opposite direction. Center it in that space with the window and use it as a guide for furniture placement. You should have at least a foot of hardwoods showing on all sides. Art should be placed with centers at about 60". a grouping should be placed as if it were one piece. Color should be repeated around the room to keep your eyes moving in the space. Center the dining table under the light and lower the light closer to the table. If you do bring in another rug it should also be centered under the light along with the table.Try the table turned the other way. The room will feel less cramped if you can comfortably walk all the way around the table grouping. When I move into a new place I try different furniture placement out for a few weeks then change things up and live with another position for awhile until I find what works in the room best for my lifestyle. Looks like you have a great start. I also love saving money buying at thrift stores and online. Gotta love a deal....See MoreWindows different size. I would like help w/ curtains or other
Comments (1)I would like help with these two windows. They both have same height, but different sizing. It’s my baby girls bedroom . And I had ordered curtains, but end up returning them bc I wasn’t sure it would look good. Is there anyone out there that can help me figure out what to do with two different window sizing and needing to darken the room. We made a mistake by not ordering blackout blinds. in addition, the room seems to blend and needing some bling. Thank you,...See Moretheclose
