I got a jar -- the thick creme, not the thin spray -- of Leather CPR at Bed Bath & Beyond that seemed to work pretty well. We had a lot of long scratches that the dogs had made on the seat of our leather sofa and this stuff made them much less obvious. Also it cleans and doesn't leave any oily or sticky stuff behind.

Pecard's is the best, in my opinion. I've used it to restore old Coach leather handbags and it works great!

Wooderlander, the place I just bought my dining room table and chairs at recommended Leather CPR. They told me I could get it at Walmart. They didn't carry it. I never thought about BB&B. Thank you.
Spanky, I'll check out Pecards, too. Thank you for that! I actually have several pursesincluding an old Coach bag I need to use something on. I'd forgotten all about them and their need, too.

Wooderlander, I used the regular Pecard's leather treatment on my Coach bags. It made them darker when I first put it on but within a few days they were back to their normal color, minus the dryness and light scuffs.

It's kind of waxy and oily so I don't know if it would be the right thing for the kind of leather that has a surface finish. The old Coach bags are aniline dyed leather, I believe.

I've used Coach leather care cream and couldn't tell that it did anything at all. Maybe it cleans, I dunno.

I use Leather CPR. I got it at RH a few years ago.

Apple Brand Leather Polishes are the best as they contain no oils or waxes. This is the brand I'm always reading the pros recommending. Here is an article you might find interesting about leather care at housebautiful.com

We have used Lexol, cleaner and conditioner. It's an automotive product and should be available at the big box stores.

Lynne, I happened to be in the Furniture forum where there's a current thread about leather cleaning. Duane Collie has some input (although I admit I only scanned the content), but he's a guy who really knows his furniture -- has had a furniture store for eons and always has very informative things to contribute. If this doesn't have what you need, ask Duane.

Count me in as a Lexol user as well, although I got it at the hardware store. When I was a teenager I went to horse camp and spent many, many hours doing chores in a stable in trade for riding time and y'know, if Lexol could return those filthy, dusty, sweaty saddles and bridles to attractiveness, a couch and chair has got to be a piece of cake. We use it on shoes and leather jackets, too. (Can't say how it would work on a Coach bag, I've never even seen one IRL much less owned one.)

We use Lexol on tack too, and for that reason I used it to clean DH's (gasp, blush) leather recliner!! I also use it on my leather gloves. I would heartily recommend it. I buy ours at Ace Hardware.

I once got a tip from a very knowledgeable furniture person, who say's no cream at all, simply wash if marked with gentle soap and water, because leather needs to breathe, cream blocks the pores from doing this, it is after all a hide from an animal...Have two leather chaise recliners coming in two weeks, and do not plan to use cream on them at all...

I've used Lexol on my Coach bags but it leaves a smell, not bad, in fact I kind of like it, but a little leathery strong. I started using it in the '70s on my Frye boots. It must have worked because my daughter-in-law has "inherited" my old Fryes, still in good shape, along with a little bottle of Lexol.

I wanted to let you know that I found the recommended "Leather CPR" cream at BB&B and it worked miracles on my leather sofa and chair! I forgot to look for the Lexol for my leather purses, but will search for that one too, next week when I run by to buy another jar of the Leather CPR. Many thanks!
