Beautiful room! A headboard would really pull it all together; to me, that's the most obvious "missing ingredient." I like the small black chest being used as a nightstand, but yes, that print looks too small and I would put the lamp on the other side of the chest, closer to the bed. I can't see what the nightstand is on the other side of the bed -- is that a light wood, or something fabric-covered? Either way, it is a lot lighter than the black chest which creates an imbalance to me. I'm not always into the matchy-matchy thing, but I'd also like the lamps on either side of the bed to match each other or at least be closer in style/color. I think you could also put a larger piece of artwork over the tall chest.

I agree with sueb that you definitely need a headboard. A lovely cream upholstered, diamond tufted one would be gorgeous. I would like to see some more curves in your room, so maybe you could bring some in with the headboard that you choose. I like the black chest, but think you need to add some more black touches in your space. Like sueb said, better coordinated lamps would be great too...but they definitely don't have to match.

If you don't need the ceiling fan to keep you cool, I'd love to see it replaced by a lovely new chandelier. Something like I posted in the link below...it would bring in more black and add some pretty sparkle. I just posted an example, but it needs to be of appropriate scale for the room.

I think the window would look nice framed out with some curtains. I am a huge fan of simple panels on nice iron rods (again, pulling in more black touches). You could go with a nice creamy matelasse, that way it would go with any bedding changes you want to make in the future. I like your bedding ok...but not loving it. Maybe cause I'm not an earthtone girl. If you want to keep it, a cool burlap bedskirt would rock on the bed.

Not sure what kind of artwork you like, but I'd love to see some hung on either side of the window. I love symmetry, so of course I'd like them to be of similar size and style. I love colorful artwork, but that may not work for you.

Well, we are in the same boat and I don't really have much to add except for another vote for a headboard but I wanted to say that you bedroom is lovely and has tons of potential!

It is a very pretty room. Besides a headboard, you might consider floor length drapes that hang just to the outside of your window on a dark rod. Hang them a few inches from the ceiling. I would pick out a soft color from your nice duvet/quilt thingy, which looks like a soft red. Otherwise a nice cream linen drape would be pretty too - you could even trim it in the soft red.

Lovely room. Other than the headboard, larger artwork, I would replace the fan with a dark wood "prettier" fan, add a round table between the two chairs, and get some decorative panels for the windows (on short 14" rods).
You have a great room and are just an inch short of making it perfect.

I feel a beautiful tall headboard in maybe an Iron Cottage White finish or a Rustic Ivory finish or a bronze finish would be nice or a white upholstered headboard would really add to the look. I love your white shutters, love your wall color and the overall eclectic look of your beautiful bedroom.

We definitely need the fan, so I will add a dark fan to the wish list too! I wish we could have a pretty chandy like the one that was linked, but we definitely need the fan!

I was able to switch out the skinny print for another one in the master bath, and would love your comments on that one.. it is very muted, not sure if it has enough oomph..

and then I found a remnent left from when I recovered the chairs, and just hung it quickly to see if it was too dark.. and I kind of think it is too dark... please tell me what you think and if that is the right height for the rod when I get it, or would you take it up to the ceiling.

Oh, and lastly someone asked about the right hand table.. it is just a fabric covered plywood round.. do you think teh gold cover is too deep? It was a quick purchase that was meant to fill in, and of course it has been there 10 years!!

If I look at Baby Turtle next to those colors BT looks more browny green and cheyenne green looks more gray green.. yet both are sagey green.

Maybe a color expert can answer... when I look at the Ben Moore color viewer Baby turtle is on the Left side and Cheyenne Green is on the Right. Is left cool, and right warm??

You have a beautiful MBR with lots of potential. I love the paint color.

How about moving the round table on the right between the two chairs under the window for a nice cozy grouping.

I love the black dresser on the right, though would prefer to see the bed flanked by two identical nightstands and lamps.

I think the fan looks fine as is. From reading some prior postings, the advantage of white is that it makes the fan sort of disappear into the ceiling; but I agree a darer toned wood one would look lovely as well.

As for the picture over the black dresser, I'd prefer to see it mounted over the headboard (once you choose one).

I'd wait to hang any more pics until you get your furniture complete--as that may affect your final layout and where you want to hang your pictures.

I actually like the white fan in the ceiling. I love your bedroom and just feels it needs a headboard and maybe a picture over the bed.

I don't know the BM color viewer, but the brownish BT would be warm and the grayed green likely cooler.

Yes, I think the fabric is too dark, too saturated and bright also. The rest of your room is soft and muted in color. The red also isn't very restful : )

Nora, green is actually considered a cool color. I've always thought of it as warm unless it's on the blue side.

Just as a contrarian voice: given your dark tall chest and the painted black accent pieces, along with your white bedding, I could also see a dark wood headboard, sort of as an anchor and an echo of the other darker pieces. Maybe something like this, even a little darker?

I would like to see a pretty iron bed or headboard to contrast with the dark furniture. Also, not crazy about those chairs under the window -- it looks a little squished on that side of the bed in the picture (could just be the angle of the picture, but the chairs look like misplaced dining room chairs). What about an iron headboard with a pretty little tufted bench at the foot of the bed?

Love the upholstered, and always loved IRON, and the three wood ones are beautiful, but I am so afraid to bring in another wood tone.. unless I do black to tie in with the chest.

And, I do believe those very well may be dining room chairs, although I am not sure.. (I bought them from an estate sale) they currently serve the purpose of a clothes chair..so I could easily get rid of them!!!

I had something like this Charles P. Rogers bed in mind (although I would just do the headboard in "vintage white" to balance all that dark wood furniture).

The first thing I would do is switch the table and the black chest, and move the bed over to the left. It would get the round table away from the round window, and add some roundness to the other side of the bed. Plus, it would allow you to move the bed over, so that you are not trying to center on the wall and fight with the hex window. It would also give you more space for the two chairs and the dresser, so that that area of the room doesn't feel jammed in.

As for a headboard, I would love to see a mantel headboard like this, with the upholstery in a more neutral shade than shown. I think it would give you the height you need on that long wall, but not be overwhelming in the room.

Once you move the two night stands around and add the headboard, I would then worry about the accessory items like the art, lamps, etc. Get the big pieces in place first.

I need to study them a bit more! But I am liking the iron, and either the very first smaller upholstered one you did in a previous repsonse, or the darker of the two taller upholstered. Can you tell me what color the darker one is.. is it a sagey green or taupe?

I love the iron headboard the best. I wish I had that style and color for my bedroom. I think it really enhances your bedroom which is already very pretty.

Anyway.. I was able to find an adorable upholstered headboard at Target! Color choices were limited, but they had one called Khaki, which sounded promising given my khaki skirt and walls. Unfortunately, their Khaki was much pinker than mine.. so I changed out the bedskirt to another target Taupe.. I think it looks decent, what do you all think?

And, while I was at Target, I foung this cute black and white/cream quilt.. thought I would see how that looked.. and I like that as well! Before I go with it, and buy more black accents (such as table topper, curtains, etc.. I thought I would ask you all your opinions please? (I moved the black chest over as Les suggested, but I can't move the bed any further to the left due to the light switch placement.) Thanks for your suggestions!!

I am not very good at decorating, but I do not like the black duvet and cushions. Your room was very peaceful before and I think this takes away from that.

I loved the photo shopped tufted headboard and matching drapes. I know here in the south we leave plantation shutters plain. How about a mirror over the upright dresser? How about fatter lamps? Did you try the round table in front of the window? Beautiful soft room!
