Ooohhh.. I love Ryan Gosling!

George Clooney has been in St. Louis for awhile now filming "Up in the Air". IF St. Louis wasn't an hour's drive for me... I would have tried to have been an extra. They needed a lot of people since most of the scenes take place in a "busy" airport. It would have been so cool to have been in a movie with George. Oh well. Can't wait to see it though even if I'm not in it!! lol

How fun!! It's too bad you couldn't try out for a part or to be an extra.
When we lived in Anaconda Montana, they filmed part of the movie, Run Away Train, starring John Voight & Eric Roberts. My Son, who passed away last year, was an extra and was paid to do a small scene in the movie, but it ended up on the cutting room floor.In the very first moments of the movie, you can see him sweeping the floor in a prison hallway.

He said that John Voight was real nice and down-to-earth and often would sit with the extras and yak with them. Eric Roberts acted like he was too good or important to have any contact with the ordinary people.

Having acted in many community theater productions, boy, would I ever like to get a chance to try out for a movie, even as an extra. Once a ham, always a ham. LOL. Dottie

They filmed parts of The Wrestler here. Three people I
work with had back round parts in it.

Clooney filmed one scene for "Oceans 12" in our town. They were here for days to film a very short sequence. It opens in a jewelry store where he is buying an anniversary present for his wife. She (Julia Roberts) phones him with a warning. He then hurries to our town's Metra train station. DH and I could never understand why they chose this town, 30 miles outside Chicago; could have been anywhere.

"Route 66" came to my town while I was working at our local newspaper. I interviewed the director and stars for an article. I thought I was being such a professional journalist. Now when I look at the clipping and photos, it's pretty obvious the director is not listening to my questions as much he is 'observing' the reporter. (I was early 20's and doing some modeling.) Again, any town would have been fine for the background. Maybe they just throw darts.

Oh such fun- Is the production causing traffic problems in town? I wonder where the cast is staying?

How annoying! They were in Versailles filming Elizabethtown a couple years ago and I couldn't get to work. Had to take a stupid detour out into the country and was late.

Since we're so close to hollywood they've done many and parts of some movies here.The most popular one was Top Gun,with Tom Cruise.Many have been done at camp pendleton also.I agree with Kathy though,it can put a kink in your day if you need to go somewhere near where they are filming.

Years ago, "Out on a Limb" was filmed here in Boulder Creek, CA (Santa Cruz mountains). Starred Matthew Broderick at a rather desperate point in his career -- I was quite glad to see that he went on to better things, including SJP, etc.

Anyway, the production company took over town for a few days, converting the grocery store parking lot to the town square, the fire station building to the city offices, etc.

Trust me, DO NOT rent this one on Netflix...it was a truly a very baaadddd movie. But if you want a glimpse of my little town, go for it!

How fun!! We've had a few filmed here in Johnstown, Slapshot with Paul Newman and All the Right Moves with Tom Cruise. The stadium scenes in All the Right News were filmed right across the street from my home at the time! They filmed the last game, complete with rain and fireworks, at 3 a.m.!
