The tile and coping look great! What kind of decking are you going with? Quote: "I am also worried the Black Pearl finish will be too dark. Will we be able to see the bottom? Will the Colorlogic loghts looks good?" You can see the bottom, but you don't "perceive" that you can see the bottom. In other words, if there is something sitting on the bottom like a pool toy then you can easily see it. If nothing is sitting on bottom it looks like you're staring into a bottomless body of water, it's like an optical illusion. Some people like that and others don't. Personally I love the look. Regarding the lights, the darker the finish then the less light will be reflected and therefore the darker the pool will appear. It depends on how bright you want it to look. With 2 lights it would probably be passable if the lights are set to white or a light color, but may be marginal on some of the darker colors.

They closed their doors and went of business, with 42 projects unfinished... and we are one of them. It has been a nightmare. In fact, our pool was scheduled to be completed this week, but we just have a shell with large piles of dirt all around. No tile, no decking, and no equipment. After MD pools installed the grunite shell, we found it difficult to reach anyone in the office. Everything was e-mail. They said they were waiting for the waterfalls to come in so they could do tile and stone work. Finally, we drove to the company without an appointment and confronted the Vice President Bob Spero and Construction Supervisor Bob Brucshs. This was shortly after the President's funeral. We were one of 3 couples in the lobby demanding answers. We learned they were deeply in debt and trying to recover the business. They failed. The vendors and most subs cut MDP off because they owed money. They have employees who haven't been paid either. Sadly, we lost a substantial amount of money, and while we have since contracted another pool company to complete the job, we are devastated by the whole situation. I feel bad for the employees and customers that have been taken advantage of by this company. It just goes to show that "60 years in business", A+ rating with BBB, review on Houzz, and "#1 pool builder in MD" means nothing! I want to put this entire experience behind us, but it is hard to accept losing so much money. We spoke with an attorney, and there is little recourse other than Civil action. The company is millions in debt, so we would be very low on the list. We are just moving on...

Davemartin88 Â I too was faced with the dilemma of having 2 different approaches recommended to handle all the leaves that I will be fighting this fall. Below is a picture of our newly completed poolÂas you can see there will be lots of leaves! The approach that made the most sense to me was to include a negative edge in the pool design. This negative edge is 16 feet wide and basically a big skimmer for the pool when the negative edge pump is on. Since we opened the pool 2 weeks ago most of the leaves and other surface debris has end up in the negative edge pit rather than the skimmer basket or filter pump. The negative edge pit is 16 feet long by 3 feet wide by 3 feet deep (picture below) and easy enough to hand skim and pick up leaves from the bottom. I plan to build a leaf net this fall to cover this 16x3 pit to let water through but catch the leaves for even easier leaf removal. I also have a floor cleaning system in the main pool which does a good job with smaller debris and the small amount of leaves so far, but I can see this system struggling with any large volume of leaves that IÂll certainly have later this year. pooldazed...Thank you for posting your pics so quickly and in great quantity. Your pool, waterfall and landscaping are beautiful! It is amazing to see the transistion from "the mess" to the finished product. Even the transistion from your "In the Beginning" stage to after the completion of your waterfall and landscaping are breathtaking!

MDpoolseeker- The waterfall is a stand alone and we did it ourselves. We wanted to be able to enjoy the sound of running water other than just during our brief summer. The waterfall is a "pondless" type so that when the waterfall is turned off, it all drains into an underground holding tank. There is no surface water to clean, no algae, no problems with kids or animals.

Hi Readyami,
I know how you feel, we agonized over choosing just the right coping. I know that we used a brick coping but IÂll have to see who the manufacturer is and what the color is. IÂm in my office right now but IÂll check later on. Thanks for the nice compliments.

Joanne, We feel in love with the chairs and tables at "Margaritaville". We purchased the table while we were there. The art teacher at my kids school has painted 3 chairs for us, so far. My wife was talking to her and she said that she would like to try and paint something similar. She's done a great job.
