Comments (23)Don't use Kinney pools. We hired them and had nothing but trouble. They did install the pool but it took 6 1/2 months from the time we signed the contract and the time they put water in it. They never finished back filling. We had to take care of it. Below are some of the details if you would like to read: The entire installation was one problem after another. First they did not know we needed a soil boring test (the township said every pool in our county needs this test). This was an additional cost of $800. We had figured there would be some additional cost so we didn't make a big deal about it. It took 4 months to start the installation (14 days after the contract date). There equipment leaked oil all over our driveway and in the street. They never even attempted to clean it up. Next, the Cement truck used to pour the cement for the collar of the pool left tire marks and cement stains all over the driveway. Next, two and half months after they started the pool was installed but they never finished backfilling the pool. All calls to them to finish the job were not responded to. I had to get someone else to finish the backfill so the cement work could be done before the winter. From the time we signed the contract to the time they had water in the pool was six and half months. Other items not completed were: (1) They never came to do the final clean up. They left the yard a mess and I had to remove 7 pallets and all the boxes from when they delivered the pool supplies. (2) Never received and indoc (they were supposed to show us how to operate the pool). Lessons learned. (1) Read the contract carefully. There is fine print that states that they are not responsible for any damage they cause (which is why they never addressed our concerns about the damage they caused to our driveway). (2) in the contract do not agree to pay them the bulk of money until the job is complete. On another note, the salesman (Ed Kinney) will brag about all the Judges who bought pools from them to try and gain your confidence. DONÂT fall for it. There is much more to this story but I tried to keep it somewhat brief....See MoreAnyone know a good Maryland pool builder?
Comments (7)I don't know of any fiberglass PB's in MD but I live in Carroll Co., MD and we have been at this for 1 yr. We have finally decided on a PB after meeting with 5 people and doing TONS of research (thank you to all the people on here. I have lurked a lot but your suggestions and pics have helped me so much). Our dig should begin in about 20 days. We only wanted to deal with owners so that means none of the big companies were even considered. We decided to go with Steve Braun from BackYard Creations out of Frederick. We were comfortable with him as a person and he gave us a terrific price right out of the gate. He has a store in Frederick so you can go in and see him or his guys anytime and get answers to questions and buy products. I would tell you to stay away from Outdoor Impressions. If you want to know why I will tell you in a pvt email. Don't want to say too much in an open forum because my opinions are very strong about this owner. Tim Rowan from Rowan Landscape is great too but his prices were just too high for us. he does beautiful work. We also spoke with Bob from Lothorian Pools. Also as great guy but too pricey. If you are still searching, good luck!...See MoreSouthern Maryland Pool Builders
Comments (17)We live in Southern MD too, hilly land etc, back in October 2005 we signed a contract with Sunrise premier pools in Arnold MD to install our pool. What a nightmare, they installed the pool outside of our boundary line of our property so 900sq feet of our pool and deck was in the neighbors land, there contract was worded so that this became our responsibility and so far it has cost us over $3000 to correct that mistake thank goodness we have nice neighbors or we may have had to fill in the pool at our cost. Today we have just gotten back from our second court appearance as we decided to sue them as not only is the pool in the wrong yard but they still have not completed the final inspection on our pool. It is now over 86 weeks since the final work was completed on our pool and the inspection should have been completed. They are simply the worst company I have ever dealt with, once they received the final payment which they did on time they are reluctant to complete there side of the deal in our case. The judge initially gave them 6 weeks to close the permit today they asked for more time and we now have to wait until Feb 2008 to have the permit closed as all the court can do in this case is request that they do the right thing and close the permit. So please please please find someone else to install your pool and avoid the nightmare we are still enduring with Sunrise Premiere Pools located at 1460 Richie Hwy, Arnold, MD 21012....See Moregood Chesapeake Bay pool builder??
Comments (4)Hi Lizzie - I just posted the same answer to "Slynn". We used a company named Pleasure Pools. Incredible service, everything was done on time or early. They kept us informed of each step and provided great information. You deal directly with the owner Paul Horichs. We used him because we had a friend who put in a pool and couldn't stop telling us how great he was. We have several other friends who have had to get attorneys involved to finish their pools, not us. Let me know if you need any other info....See Morebuildinginpa
