OT - Progress Report & More!!!!

I overheard the supervisor & the foreman talking. The foreman thought they had until one date to finish their work and the supervisor said "No, that's when I have to be done. You have to get done sooner" The crew has been working harder since than. Our SIL said that someone was working until 9:30 Tuesday evening.

We've been at the house everyday this week. The workers are able to ask us questions. They want to get it right to begin with and not redo anything. Yesterday the foreman finally commented on my having so many pictures and I explained to him I'd taken the pictures for inventory purposes. It was too cold in December & January for me to write the list inside the house. There was one heater for the entire building, it was in the living room and I was working in the other half.

Because they recovered three discs from my computers I have been able to find even more pictures from before the fire of various features. They just realized yesterday that there should be a storm/screen door for the front door. We went to Lowes to get information about the replacement. I sent the SKU and the picture on the left. That's Lilac watching the street. She's the dog we lost.

Meet Koko our new puppy. He's 7 months old. The breeder shows dogs and decided he wasn't exactly what she wants. She will keep him until we're in the house. DH named him - with some French pronunciation. None of us could tell the difference and DD#1 gave it this spelling. Fine with the rest of us. It sounds like Kokomo and one of the glass manufacturers for stained glass is Kokomo Opalescent Glass Co. in Indiana.

Oh, Glass, I'm so happy for you! Koko is a real cutie! I remember right after your fire you talked about taking inventory and pictures and all that, and I know we all should, but I haven't done it yet. We also got a notice from our insurance company yesterday reminding us to review our coverage and prepare for hurricane season. I know with the 2 sewing machines and the quilting frame and our various musical instruments that we really need an inventory and probably extra coverage.

Thanks for sharing the progress on the house, and I know you'll enjoy your little Koko! I hope your kitty likes him!

Glad to hear about the progress on your house. Sounds like you've got a good crew and that they appreciaite you're being around to give them guidance. Ever since hearing about your losses from the fire and the tremendous effort you had to put into your inventory, I've been urging DH to help me get ours updated. It's been years and probably wasn't really adequate at that time.

Koko is adorable--love how he has his tongue sticking out in the picture.

Awww, thanks guys! I hope posting this will inspire others to go with their dreams and find ways to get what they want. I remember being jealous of the little fort DH built our kids from scrap lumber 35 years ago! My DF built us a playhouse when I was a kid and it was so much fun. I think everyone should have one regardless of age. This isn't at all what I first envisioned - I thought we could collect a lot of used building materials and make a really funky house. However, where we live there are limited things available and we're not getting any younger so just went for it. Only the windows were used and they cost less than $30 for all. I also wanted something that would add value to the property as we may sell in the next 5 years or so. One thing that is helping us with the cost of this project is that the Canadian government is giving a "home renovation tax credit" on all home project building costs (to spur the economy) so we'll pay a bit less income tax. DH has "guestimated" the cost will be under $2000 less maybe $250 for the tax credit. Say it fast and it's not much! haha We're pretty frugal otherwise. Jane, no skylight, that would have gone over like my idea of the dormers did! ;-) There are windows at both ends of the loft so it should be light enough. DH had bot enough 2x8's for the roof but some were not as straight as he liked so he used them for the little support pieces in between the rafters. He's since bot more and finished that part. I'll take more pics as he plans to finish those short walls in the loft today and start putting plywood on the roof.

Thank you everyone. I was so worried I was being a PITA. I am so happy you enjoy my pix. GG, I went and peeked at my dat buds before, and I have a Tatula Le Fleur opening..it's the one I thought was going to be a white, but I can see the lilac now. This will be my first dat bloom!! Will post pix after they bloom..keep those fingers crossed for me :) thanks! O and I have more purple buds than I thought..PLUS I have a big one I think will be a yellow..*fingers crossed :) HAHAHA!! Brenda, the water gets cloudy in the afternoon, think its from the sun..I read that somewhere. And there is a very fine film of dust on the liner..can't help it with the dogs always running around, but it's not that bad. It IS great to be able to see the bottom, water so clear. I don't want that algae to come when it's cycling!! but I know it will. Hopefully the plecos will keep on top of it. I am using beneficial bacteria to speed things up. Thanks Rigo :) lol Karyn, if you were closer, I'd def help you out! It's so much fun! Thanks Collielover! I have decided to remove the preform the fish were in previously. I think I cracked it when I was trying to catch the plecos..but I got em today!! they are SO fast. So instead of making a raised brug bed in the middle of the yard with the extra dirt, I will just fill in that hole, and put some brugs there. Still keeping the lil'est preform going though. Started deconstructing today..hey I was able to use the rocks from it, lol. Still need alot more. I have to check the weather again..we still didnt get any storms? Had a bit of rain, couple claps of thunder and that was it. I am counting on that rain! thanks again everyone :)

Thank you for all the wonderful comments! I got some more work done on the bed this weekend and should be able to start digging the hole for the pond soon. I'll keep posting updates. Kate, all of the clear glass balls are solar lights that change color from red to blue to yellow with various combinations of those colors between shifts. You can buy the short ones at Walmart. Vaodiva, I keep meaning to e-mail you so that we can get together. I realized after you left my house that I never gave you any of the false rosemary. And I still want to see your garden too. Babcoleus, mom has the same variety of crinum and her's blooms off and on all year. Cindeea, my friends bought the birdbath at Lowes. Felix, once I get the pond in I'll take you up on that offer. Some miniture water lilies would be wonderful!
