My May goals mostly revolve around actual quilting; I have no actual projects in the works (though a few I'd like to start).

1. Quilt sunflower quilt already on frame. Had trouble yesterday and now need to buy a part.

2. Quilt blue/white twin quilt.

3. Quilt paisley quilt on standard machine.

4. Embroider yellow shirts.

5. Embroidery DJ company shirts.

6. Quilt Mystery quilt.

I'm going with carry-overs from April for starters. I may add to the list if all goes well.

1. Label bear paw quilt.
2. Bind and label larger penguin top.
3. Work toward finishing the older Lover's Knot tops.
4. Continue working on DS#1's tee shirt quilt.
5. Make at least one crumb block a day.
6. Finish table toppers for DS#2 and DIL's nightstands.
7. Make and send three May lotto blocks.

Yard and garden work will have first priority this month, but there are always rainy days!

Just look at you girls making your lists! I'm not able to sew anything with precision yet so I made a few crumb blocks yesterday. Sure hope this gets better soon or I'll have more crumbs than Gwen!

The table runners I had on the list last month are going on the back burner again. I got the one sandwiched, but I really would love to be able to have two machines up and running (no room) so that I wouldn't have to keep changing feet and threads! I think that is the main reason I don't get much actual quilting done! I don't know why it bothers me so to have to change those... it's not like its that hard or time consuming... lol
Anyway for this month, I can see the first four getting done... Good thing my friend is patient! ;)

I am carrying over several goals ...
1. Continue handquilting ... try to finish at least 2 blocks this month.
2. Finish cleaning guest room (my sewing room) before Moms arrive... Still working on this ... less that 24 hours
3. Start cutting blocks for B & W & _ challenge
4. Get directions/samples cut for guild class on luggage tags (not really quilting but ...) that I am teaching next week.
5. Trim QS quilt & add binding

Keep working on crib quilt, bumper pads, dust ruffle, and whatever baby article I can make with leftover fabric for a baby due in September.

I got the baby quilt done last month as planned, so for this month:

1. Finish and ship May Block Swap
2. Ship Fat Quarters out (finally got them together)
3. Start (and hopefully finish) dinosaur quilt for my assistants little boy.
4. Start sorting and moving boxes out of my creativity room. I want it clean and ready to go by the end of June!
5. Sort and label fabrics and stash leftovers. Buy more bins at container store.
6. Try, try, try NOT to spend more money on anything that has to do with Quilting!!!

Oh, and of course browse the books and magazines for inspiration and above all else - HAVE FUN!

1. Complete Mother's Day table topper for Mom (May 10) (as of May 7th needs quilting and binding)
2. Complete Mother's Day table topper for MIL (May 10) (as of May 7th needs binding)
3. Complete birthday table topper for Aunt Leah (May 24th) (as of May 7th needs quilting and binding)
4. Make African hanging for Barb (May 11th) (will be late)
5. Make three lotto squares (May 20th)
6. Make three "tea cups" (May 20th)
7. Quilt and bind Mason's baby quilt (May 30th)
8. Anything else is a bonus LOL

Considering that on May 1st I had not started #1-#6 (except for choosing the table topper pattern and fabric) I will be thrilled to get all these completed. It will be nice to be able to "get ahead" and start some projects before the month they are due LOL!!

Are you finding it easier when you have a list to work from? I am....I may not get everything done, but at least I'm not wondering what's in the WIP stack that I should be working on.....and then, by the time I go through it, time has been wasted that I could have been sewing.

It's nice to see what y'all are working on and hoping to get finished this month. By Sunday, I was able to do some sewing. Then yesterday, the other eye was lasered, so I'm not doing too much, but a little bit at a time. Can't even stay on the puter for very long at a time! Oh well, hoping to see really good after all of this is over and no hint of going blind.

Yes, I find it great. Last month I would go look at my list every few days and feel good that I had accomplished something. I have no major UFOs now, just the 6 new tops that are WIPs and a few minor things like pillows. Gotta tell ya though, I haven't touched a thing since May started. I can't get myself started on quilting that large D9P. I thought I'd have until July to do most of them but now one wedding date has been changed to May 29th. YIKES!!! Got a feelin' they won't get it for the wedding. Oh well,that's life. I know it will be appreciated whenever they get it.

Sharon, I hope the laser treatments help you. You've certainly had more than your share of problems, so you're due for some good things.

How's everyone doing with the May sewing/quilting goals. I started quilting one of my large D9Ps but haven't gotten very far with it. It's too nice to stay inside. I make a few scrap 16-patch (unfinished size 8") when the mood hits but that's about it. Anyone making more progress than I am?

The doc says my eyes are cured of what ailed them! THEN, I got blindsided by something else and laid on the couch for a few days under the influence of pain meds, but, I hope to be able to start back in on my list today. OK......no more whining!!!

Here's the update - hopefully by the end of the month there will be a big dent in the DONES, but, if I can just finish Joyces pink D9P, I'll be happy.

OK - It's already May 19 and I haven't gotten much finished (but I thought about it! - does that count?? ;)
1.Got sewing room cleaned for Moms' visit.
2. Got to meet Linda (toolgranny) in Boulder on way to airport to pick up moms! That was SOOO fun.
3. Did luggage tags & group had fun making them.
4. Trimmed QS quilt but still need to cut binding.
5. Went fabric shopping with Mom - spent too much $$
11 days later - Moms went back to AZ - need to write finals for school & will take hand quilt baby quilt camping this coming weekend.

I haven't done much quilting since Easter. I have been having lots of pain in my left arm and shoulder and have going to physical therapy 3 times a week for 5 weeks and now am going twice a week. The pain is gone and the range of motion is improving.
I did put the binding on a kid's quilt and have another one ready for the hand stitching.
I worked on the DWR yesterday and hope to get back to that this weekend after DS and DIL leave on Saturday. They are coming on Thurs. and staying till Saturday when they plan to go to Cedar Point (an amusement park)for her b-day.

Well, I love this listing goals for all to see! Keeps me on track! I am doing well this month despite my broken ankleand my partner's second degree burns. Between visits to hospitals and doctors' offices and mothers and aunts, I have completed #1,2,3,5,6 and 8!!

Sue, It was pretty scarey there for awhile and I got a taste of what it is like to not have full vision to be able to read, etc. Looks like you've been busy having fun with the moms and meeting up with Toolgranny Linda. She can sure rack up the travel miles.

LindaOH, I am so sorry about your arm and shoulder. Isn't it the pits when you can't do what you want to? If I lived closer, I'd do the hand stitching on your binding for you.

goldie, Sorry you've had all those medical visits to contend with. DH and I have had a few of those this month, too. Pretty tabletopper....

I'm almost finished quilting the pink D9P...even doing a little handquilting around the hearts I appliqued onto it. There are a few 'open' places that I think I'll have to add a little more quilting than I thought I would, but I'm still pleased with being where I am with it.

I didn't make a list, but I had that "Black, White and ____ All Over" challenge on my mind and finally got started on it about a week ago, hoping to complete the central section by the end of the month. I expect to meet that deadline as of this evening. It involved a lot of designing for the main figure, applique work, and some embroidery.

I just spent the whole morning dealing with the weeds that are flourishing in between the cracks of the paving stones in our patio. Hate to use weed killers because of the cats, so I have taken to sliding the blade of a box cutter along the edges of the stones, and after that, it is all easy. My reward is to be able to watch TV and work on the B&W&___ wall-hanging in the evening!

DH and I have lost so much energy and time in doctor visits and the like in the past year, it feels good to finally be working on a quilting project again.

Mayme: It was startling to read that you are already at the stage of quilting yours! And here I felt I was really getting ahead of the game! Ha, ha.

Well, I got one of the D9P quilted. All it needs is the binding. I'm pleased with that as I've been like biwako of abi--fighting the unending battle against weeds.Still, I do like digging in the dirt.
Of course the quilt will be a late wedding gift----the wedding was yesterday.( had a good time at that party but I'm paying for it today---it would be great if my body could keep up with my spirit!!)

I didn't commit to anything on the May list because I knew I wouldn't have much time for anything besides work this month. My big project at home was to clean out and sort out everything in the room we use for sewing, ironing, quilting, exercise equipment and beading! Did I mention it's also our library with one wall of shelves full of books?!? It's usually pretty messy but had gotten to the point where I couldn't find anything, especially the beads and jewelry making supplies.
This morning I finally finished it all! The beads are sorted by color and the quilt projects each has it's own box. Some of the fabric could still use folding and sorting but at least I know where it all is and can get to it.

So of course I celebrated by starting on my black/white/somecolor challenge quilt! I had started one about a month ago, but didn't love the way it was going. Today I had an inspiration and had to go with it. The other one will probably get finished as a graduation quilt for one of my nephews - black and white with a denim or flannel backing should be just about right for him.

May turned out to be a pretty good month for sewing afterall, even if it all happened on almost the last day of the month!

As I feared, this wasn't a very productive month for me, but I did accomplish a few of my goals.

I joined a once-a-month sewing group at my LQS this month. We sew from 10:00 to 4:00, with lots of chatting and snacks along the way. To have something different to work on, I pulled out a Thangles buck-a-block sampler, purchased at least two years ago and never started. It will become part of my June list. I made quite a bit of progress on it, prepping the pieces Monday and Tuesday and starting to assemble the blocks when the group met on Wednesday.

My late April/early May wintersowing was very successful, so I've been tending hundreds of seedlings for several weeks. We have a freeze warning tonight, so I've tucked old blankets around the containers. They should be tough enough to handle the cold, but I don't have the nerve to gamble on the tender annuals when they're almost large enough to transplant.

It's fun to follow everyone's monthly progress. Keep up the good work!!

The Double Wedding Ring top IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finished piecing it tonight. I worked on it all last weekend and again today.
A friend will let me use her HQ16 machine and frame to quilt it. I still haven't decided how I want to do it. I do know that I want a quilting pattern that I can do free motion. I don't want to have to mark it. I am looking for a stencil to give me an idea.
I also had my last PT session on Friday and my arm and shoulder are feeling much better. I reached all of my goals except for the external rotation. I plan to continue to work on it at home.
So, this is a great weekend!!!

Jan, Sorry to hear about your energy being tapped out. Dr appts and going for tests, etc sure can take it out of you. You should reward yourself everyday by doing at least one needle's worth of thread on a project. The cacti are growing and blooming. @:)

Everyone has been so productive!!

I still did not get my #4 and #7 done. I am postponing the African hanging (#4) til August now - to be finished in time for my friend's Virgo birthday.

The baby quilt is almost finished and will be within a few days. So not too bad for a dedicated procrastinator LOL!!

geezer - thank you for your kind words - we are slowly healing and soon will be able to crawl onto the roof to fix the leak and into the basement to insulate LOL!!

imrainey, the table topper is an adaptation of a free pattern is called "Flowers for Mother Teresa". I changed it slightly to suit the fabric I had available. Also, I loved the straight line geometry, so I avoided the curves in the pattern. I would like to make one for myself sometime using batik fabric.
