Is there a site for IRS tax refund schedule?

We've been waiting for our refund check and seems to me that there's a site that tells when it's sent out. Not the "extra" bonus, just the regular tax check. thanks.

If you go to irs.gov, you can find the schedule. I'm not sure how reliable it is at this point. Last I looked, they were still posting the original schedule. Then it was announced that the direct deposite rebates would all be deposited by May 2. I just walked in from the bank, and mine wasn't there--the teller said she heard that now it would be by the end of THIS week. And I have no idea what they're doing with paper checks.

It's money none of us had or expected anyway, so I guess it really doesn't matter if it comes today, next week, or July 15th, right? Only reason I asked was that I wanted to move it to an account that pays higher interest.

It took 6 weeks for the weather to be right and to resolve a problem with the original shipment last week, but I've received my plants from Orchidview. I must say: I am delighted!!! First, Katherine and I finally agreed to ship my original 3 plant phal order last Monday, there were cold weather issues for the previous 5 weeks. Long story short, something got messed up in shipping (my post office lost it???) and I never received the plants, they were returned to Orchidview last Saturday. I had been tracking the shipment and contacted Orchidview once I realized the shipment got messed up. After a couple of e-mails back and forth and telling Katherine I really liked their phrag offerings and would probably consider getting one or two in the future, she and I decided to try again this week and for my trouble she added a BS Phrag. Cahaba Glow (1 mature growth and 1 new growth). She said she would also sell me a 3 1/2" NBS Fritz Schomberg for $60 (1 small mature growth, 1 larger nearly mature growth). So, I this morning I received: The 2 phrags mentioned 1 Phal violacea ('Blue July 4th' x 'Gaston Bleu') LS 1 Phal violacea ('Bonnie Blue' x 'Blue Beard') SS 1 Phal Samera (bellina 'Orchidview Blue' x' violacea 'Blue Chip') NBS All arrived in good shape and I'm darn happy. Will do more business with Orchidview in the future and Katherine was absolutely wonderful to work with. Bob

Thanks - I efiled last year, guess I'll do that this year if USAA offers TurboTax for free again. I just downloaded forms and instructions to do a penciled-in rough estimate while I'm waiting for the 1099-INTs to come in. It's crazy - we're not even itemizing, we've got 2 new schedules this year and it took me a couple of hours to go through the instructions and do the schedules to find out we qualify for the "standard" $1000 real estate tax deduction the $800 "pay to work" credit without adjustments. I thought our taxes were supposed to be getting simpler - I pity the people who are trying to figure out if/how much they qualify for all the new credits Obama put out last year. And I still have to figure our state tax (CT isn't a "piggyback" state)!

I donÂt want to start a fight but I believe that efiling is "the way to go". IMHO, the fewer people that handle my return, the better. When you mail a return to the IRS, the first thing that happens is the information from your return is input into IRSÂs computers. If someone hacks into IRS computers, your information is there along with everyone elseÂs; plus you have exposed yourself to 2 additional potential problems. First, your return is handled by the Post Office. While I would like to believe that everyone in the Post Office is honest, I suspect that there might be a few dishonest folks who would love to get their hands on your return. Second, when you mail your return in and it is input into IRS computers, there is always a chance that the person inputting your information will make a mistake. They might transpose numbers, enter numbers on the wrong lines or even put information on the wrong Form or Schedule. One of the biggest messes I ever had to deal with in my time as a tax preparer was an instance of someone at the IRS putting information on the wrong form. It took well over a year to convince the IRS that they had made the error when entering the return into their computers. I do suspect that more and more forms are being scanned directly into IRSÂs computers so they are working to eliminate the potential for input errors. I worry about identity theft, but believe that efiling is better than mailing a return to the IRS. Efile your return, have your refund direct deposited in your bank account and you will have your refund in 8 to 15 days. Works for me.

Hmmm...very interesting. My immediate thought was having to see just how many old bills I would have to gather together. I see it will be much easier to just go with the standard amount. What is the standard amount? Individual taxpayers can take a standard amount from $30 to $60 based on the number of exemptions claimed on their tax return. For those claiming: * one exemption, the standard refund amount is $30 * two exemptions, the standard refund amount is $40 * three exemptions, the standard refund amount is $50 * four exemptions or more, the standard refund amount is $60 And "no" you certainly aren't stepping out of bounds here...your post is most appropriate for the forum...and could/should maybe be shared on the Money Saving Tips Forum as well. Some taxpayers may receive smaller economic stimulus payments than they anticipated. By law, the stimulus payments are offset to satisfy past-due taxes, student loans, child support and certain other debts.

The IRS will send notices to taxpayers who have already filed a 2007 tax return and who are eligible for an economic stimulus payment. This notice will serve as an important recordkeeping document and should be retained by taxpayers. By keeping people informed, the IRS hopes to reduce calls to customer service representatives who are still busy helping taxpayers complete tax returns.

FWIW:

My DD told me on the morning of April 30 that her Rebate (stimulus) check had been deposited to her account.

I didn't ask if it had come the day before or that morning.

So some have gone out before May 2nd.
