Another funny for today.

A guy who lived in Arizona always wanted to own a bar. One day he won the lottery and decided now he could have his bar, and because he didn't need it to be profitable, he decided to charge only 20 cents a drink. Didn't matter if it was a glass of tap beer or a manhattan, it would only cost 20 cents. Two guys walked in, one ordered a Beefeater Martini and the other ordered a cold long neck beer. The bar-owner said that will be 40cents, gentlemen. They couldn't believe how cheap the drinks were, so they had several more. Pretty soon they noticed a group of old guys sitting at the end of the bar, not drinking. They asked the bartender why those guys were just sitting there not drinking and the bartender said, Oh them, they are retirees from Minnesota waiting for happy hour when the drinks are half price.

My family used to laugh about the all-you-can eat buffets in Florida that open at 4 pm but have long lines of people waiting to get in. Also called Florida "Heaven's Waiting Room". Those retirees... plenty of humor .

Good story ... I guess, as I'm seldom burdened with pain: haven't had aspirin in the house for years (well, Tylenol, as, being on blood thinners, I'm not supposed to use acetylsalsilic acid.(sp) Here's a question ... ... what title would be good to put on it? How about, "One way to know whether you're dead"? No, that wouldn't be good - telegraphs the end story too much. Maybe something like, "Seniors' morning conversation while still abed"? ole joyfuelled

I used to about die laughing at Dottie and Marlen when they'd get to bashing each other. There was one picture posted that I can remember of a small get together that Dottie was able to attend. I think it was taken not too long before she passed away. She was a very pretty woman. I wish I could have met her too. Isn't that a nice thing to have people say about you. I hope when I'm gone I can leave somewhat of the same thoughts with people. I could never match her. ImaTwoSacker was special.

Jannie try living here. They are a real trip.
Yesterday I was at the grocery store waiting for my number to be called at the deli. The two clerks that were waiting on customers were busy making subs for customers. There were four of us waiting to be waited on. Finally one clerk from the back came out to wait on the rest of us. She called the next number and waited on the lady I was standing next to. A younger gal decided not to wait and put her number in the basket and walked away. This older (mid 70's, who came after me) lady picked the number ticket out of the basket. Now we are the only two waiting. They called the next number and guess who steps up. I was steaming...I told her "I'm sorry but you arrived after me". She told me to shut up and just wait my turn. Why is it when people get old they get mean and feel they are entitled.

I'd probably make a comment to her, (loud, since she probably is saving the batteries on her hearing aid) something to the effect that this isn't the line for casket selection but I understand why she's in such a hurry, and tell her I hope her life-alert works when she breaks her hip! Well, maybe not, but if I were in the right mood...

There's a diner that I stop at occasionally. ClientÃ¨le is largely elders (lots of Buicks parked out front!) and it's a lot of fun to go there. Friendly folks. Not a lot of places I go to these days where I'm the kid of the crowd anymore it seems!

When it comes to butting into line, there's other groups that frustrate me. How many times I'm heading to the number dispenser and someone runs over, jumps in front and grabs a number so they can be ahead of me. But they're in a bigger rush than I am. I should start carrying a cane.... and trip 'em! :) But, that would be wrong... wouldn't it?

Yes...I relate to the old, mean people "thing". I used to see this elderly lady on my jogging route, I started talking to her over time. I introduced her to my DH and she later started telling me how "she didn't need a man", she's "free" now, I should free myself & how she's a rebel....huh....all this anger. Telling me she "hates" people....ok...I was gonna stop talking to her, but she stopped walking her route. :0)
