Posting pictures in message

Hello: Wondering if someone can explain how to add pics in the body of these messages instead of a link. It seems much better to look at the pics throughout the thread instead of having to jump out to open or cut & paste a link. Thanks in advance. :)

Here are three methods to post photos in either the Gallery or Discussion area. I see enough people asking I thought I would post it.
Ok, you have two easy ways to do it and one hard way

1) For quick posting: Go to www.tinypic.com.

Click the "Browse" button to find the picture you want to post from your computer.

Select the picture then click "Host It". After a few moments (depending on connection speed and size of the image) a few tags will appear at the bottom.

Simply copy and paste the entire contents of the "Tag" entry into your forum post.
Viola, you have posted a picture.

2) Recommended:Start a photobucket album (www.photobucket.com). Every time you post a picture, you will have a "Tag" entry to cut and paste into your forum posts. This is the benefit over the other online photo album sites.

3) Most difficult: Go to a picture you have posted in your Webshots or other album.

Right click on the photo and choose "Properties".

You will see the image url. Copy this URL and paste it into your forum post.

In front of the url add (img src=" including the quote but change the ( to a At the end of the pasted url add "> including the quote.

This process will work to link to any photo on the internet.
This will link back to your Webshots or other hosted photo.

That is photo posting 101. Good Luck.

A word of caution. Do not post a link back to tinypic in the "Optional URL Link". At times, people post undesirable pictures on tinypic.com. You do not want anyone to accidently browse to the next anonymous post to find an undesired photo.

Thanks for the help, I must be technologically challenged....I do have a photobucket account... I will keep trying. :)

Just a note: When you paste a tag from Photobucket, the tag will look something like this: [a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"][img src="http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h155/novaphotoguy/Epiphyllum/RedEpi2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"][/a] Except that the brackets '[]' will look this this: ''. In this message you wouldn't be able to see the code if I used ''. Anyway, what's really the most important is the part between the brackets that begins [img src=...] This is the actual image. The part that begins [a href="http://photobucket.com" ...] just creates a live link to Photobucket's home page. I usually strip this off. Don't know if that helps at all.

Your #2 model, and your adorable nursery design, both go all the way to the ceiling, but your kitchen pantry cabinet doesn't. I believe that will make a big difference. Are you planning some tweak that takes the pantry cabinet to the ceiling, and then the planned bookcase up to the ceiling also? If not, then another option to consider is floating shelves instead of a fully framed bookcase. You might put one solid wood shelf at the same level as the center rail of the lower pantry door, and then space floating glass shelves above that. It would leave the floor for Max's dining room, and the eye movement through that floor space instead of closing it off in that corner. Also, you wouldn't have to deal with the tall, thin side panels that are worrying you. Just an idea...

How do I post pictures with my message?

The reason I first put the pic on my desktop is that unless you do that when you click to upload to tinypic you have to look thru your files to find the pic you want. Easier (for me) to plan ahead, move the pics to the desktop, and load easily from there as that's the first place that opens. Kathleen, they do store the pics you post thru that site - it you click on images you will see lots of pics people have posted. It's one reason I don't like it because I don't know any way of removing them so don't use it for anything personal altho a lot of people do. There's little privacy here once a person has posted pics and as most know GW 'owns' any pics we post. Pics posted from photobucket can be moved which will break the connection and remove the pic from the thread. It's just one way to post pics if a person doesn't want to use Photobucket. BTW I believe all the photo sites make pics public unless one opts for the private setting.

With photobucket, cut and paste the one that starts with "a ref" and the picture will appear. It's that easy!
