help with push/pull backwash valve needed

i have a pentair fns plus de filter. the whole pool was installed last summer. i can not get the valve to release to the backwash position. i called the pool company but they are 7-10 days out for a service call.
so here is what i have done, released the pressure by opening the air valve? on the top of the filter(where it tell you the pressure and when to clean) i should then be able to turn the handle to unlock and pull up but it feels stuck. i even unscrewed the collar on the assembly and tried to pull the whole thing up and out of the piping (per person that i talked to on the phone from the pool company) but it is vey stuck even with the collar completely off. i saw a utube video on changing out the whole valve and watched the guy do what i did and pull the whole valve out but mine is stuck in place.
any advice or suggestions?
my filter has not been backwashed all summer, is just now at the clean mark and is being closed on the 30th so 14 days. should i not bother with backwashing and just have the pool company clean the filter? i am afraid to try it myself as it is still under warranty and my pentair gas heater already had to be repaired. i don't want my warranty voided by diy ing the maintenance.
also the bozo on the phone (sales guy) said the filter should be cleaned twice a year. is that right? it runs may to end of sept and i was under the impression it was done at the end of the season

Dirt and debris accumulate around the O-rings that are on the valve stem. As you pull the valve up the O-rings get caught by the dirt and instead of sliding the O-ring is trying to roll and it gets very hard to lift. You should leave it to the pool company if possible, especially if it's under warranty.

Did you ever get your push pull valve taken care of? I suggest trying to rotate the valve as you work it up. The O'rings are probably swollen from D.E. or chemicals or there is debris causing the rings to not slide easily. I recommend opening and cleaning the filter grids and not using the push pull assembly to back wash. The push pull be left untouched or repaired with new O'ring seals. Pentair P/N# 263054 for new push pull valve O'ring/seal kit. Yes depending on bather load filters should be cleaned once to twice a year.

Shrubs are the walls of the garden, even where there is fencing shrubs are needed in front of at least part of that to avoid starkness. Hedges are a combination of shrubs and fencing. As we see with the current condition of the scheme shown here a herbaceous planting with shrubs has no structural density at any time and little height variation when the herbaceous plants are not fully developed during their peak season. Evergreen shrubs are the meat of the border, the bulk. Deciduous shrubs have an intermediate weight and herbaceous plants have effectively no solidity. A good general arrangement where a large herbaceous planting is the feature is some evergreen shrubs functioning as bookends near corners or similar positions in the view, with deciduous shrubs between those and the main frontal area where the herbaceous plants occupy the stage, as it where. If a planting is large enough to call for a deciduous tree that is best put in the widest part of the bed, off to one side. Evergreen shrubs should be grouped around that to support the dominance it occupies as an accent point. If there is not a fence or house wall behind evergreen shrubs or hedging should be extended across to form a solid yearround backdrop. Climbers (vines) can be trained against or over it to soften it and integrate it with the deciduous shrubs and herbaceous plants in front. These can also be used to continue interest, large-flowered clematis trained up into fully developed lilacs for instance.

BTW, IF YOU HAVE THE BALL SHAPED BULB PRIMER (RED USUALLY ON MY CHEAP MOWER)AND IT HAS A SPLIT IN IT THERE IS AN EASY FIX IF YOU CAN'T FIND A REPLACEMENT AND IT INVOLVES THE SILICONE RUBBER IN A TUBE THAT YOU USE TO FIX A LEAKY WINDSHIELD(AUTO STORE WILL KNOW), ALTHOUGH THE THICK TOOTHPASTE-LIKE SILICONE RUBBER WILL WORK. JUST PAINT SOME OF THAT ON THE ENTIRE SURFACE OF THE BALL AND RECOAT IT WITH RUBBER, USING A MATCHSTICK OR EVEN AN OLD BRUSH. THIS WILL SEAL ANY HOLE OR SPLIT IN IT AND YOU CAN CONTINUE TO MOW RATHER THAN MAKE A TRIP OR WAIT FOR THE MAILORDER PART.

I love glass but don't want the shine they have so I thought I would steer away from it. Maybe an insert would be possible. What do you all think of the type of tile I mentioned in my first note that has some color rather than a neutral? Or do most of you think neutral is the way to go? I would like the backsplash to NOT hide in the background. I would also like it darker than the upper cabinets so the uppers pop out. But not dark (medium shade would be good). Any ideas or pictures would be great. Thanks

I don't see how you can change the device unless you have very good access from the rear and the replacement can use the same size hole in the tile that you now have. When new, these are not that hard to operate. I would suggest taking it apart and lubricating every moving part with a heat proof plumber's grease. There isn't much expense involved if it doesn't help....$3-$5 for the grease and your labor.

my pool company sent out a tech at no cost as it was in warranty. the tech was great and said they are having problems with these valves and had just had a meeting with the company about it. as of now there is no solution but they will come back to fiddle with it whenever needed. the tech thinks the seal is just a little too thick and gets stuck with pressure? or something to that effect. he thinks it needs a redo in the design.

I have had same issue where the O'ring swells up and does not allow for movement. I have taken it apart and lubricated it but it eventually does the same thing. The aggressive chemistry of the pool water plays havoc on rubber seal components. I usually just take filter apart and clean it as backwashing sends dirty water into filter grid and does not really do as well of a cleaning as taking filters out and hosing them off. Good luck.

Is this for real replace the push pull valve. Simple. I'm so sorry that you have to go through these! Warranty or not its a $70 valve.
