How often do you fertilize your veggie garden?
Comments (22)Somewhere above there was a mention of bean transplants and while it is possible to carefully do that it doesn't really work well... rhizobia aren't usually in the potting media and adding too much N to the biosphere will prevent them from colonizing and nodulating the roots. You will get foliage but no flower or fruit with all that excess N. The do sell soil innoculant, which i recommend adding to any new bed if you haven't got a compost bin to add your own microbes. It's not just the nutrients you need to worry about, it's the microbiome. Soil bacteria break down sulfur to lower the ph and allow micronutrients to be absorbed by root hairs. Others break down phosphorus and make it soluble for plants. Some fix N. Some just secrete enzymes that degrade oomycete pathogens like phytopthera. Some produce plant growth regulators and help with root hair growth and stomatal conductance. Others prime plant immune systems so they are able to defend themselves rapidly when pathogens attack....See MoreHow often do you wash your hair? How about never?
Comments (54)I also really love the Suave Daily Clarifying shampoo, it's dirt cheap and doesn't harm my very delicate fine hair. I just stumbled upon it too. I had bought it for my husband and he didn't use it so I had this huge bottle and used it and was surprised at how well it did for my fine hair and plus, it doesn't make my scalp itch, that has become an issue for me. I also found a conditioner that I love, it's Martix Biolage, the detangling one. Finally, a conditioner that doesn't make my scalp itch AND actually takes the tangles out of my insanely tangle prone hair. I used to shampoo daily because I styled my hair every day. Now, I just put it in a ponytail and call it done. I wash my hair about every third day now. I'd be very afraid to put baking soda in my fragile hair...I'm sure it would destroy it. I once (ONE TIME) used Dr. Bronner's liquid Castile to wash my hair and it damaged it so badly that it had to grow out before it was normal again. UGH! I'm lucky that I have hair, don't get me wrong, but my hair is very weird! My scalp is also very oily...so I cannot go very long without washing. Three days is pushing it and I can only pull it off because I wear it in a ponytail. I also can't stand the smell of stinky hair...UGH! It gets stinky after a couple days. That's when I know it's time to wash!...See MoreHow often do you need to drain a gunite pool?
Comments (5)Total Dissolved Solids.. Also test your CYA level (Cyanuric Acid). If it is 100+, that is rather high. If it is 150+, you need to probably drain at least 50% of the water. If it is like 300+, drain the whole pool. Reason being, that much stabilizer (CYA) will bind up all of your Chlorine, making you need to add 2-3-4-5x as much just to make it work right. If they were using Trichlor tabs for a few years, most likely this is why they say it needs to be drained. Trichlor adds a lot of CYA to your pool and in 2-3 years you'll have too much. This is why many folks use Bleach instead of the Trichlor (or worst, Dichlor) tabs......See MoreHow often do you add iron? How much?
Comments (4)Each soil has its own mineral content and this affects which - if any - mineral sources you should add to your own particular garden site. And how much. So nobody on the web can tell you what to do with your own specific situation - it's not a matter of all roses (and other plants) everywhere all needing the same treatments. If you have chlorotic leaves present at this time pick some of them and take them to sources of local guidance like a Cooperative Extension Service branch office (preferably) or an independent garden center (where you might be able to find somebody that has actual horticultural training). You will have to be able to get to the Extension office when they are open during weekdays. And if you try a garden center you should show up there during some time other than a Saturday afternoon in May, when they are mobbed....See Moretresw
