Have you ever ordered from...

Marshall Dry Goods? I just discovered them. The prices are wonderful, although many, many of the fabrics that interested me were out of stock. Anyone had experience with them? I am such penny pincher, I know, and some times to my detriment, but I am suffering sticker shock from a Saturday visit to my lqs. Fabric over $9 per yard! It sent me running back on line.

No, I have never ordered from them, but I know what you mean about LQS fabric prices. Fortunately, the one here in town has a room of 40% off sale fabrics. Granted, most of them don't appeal to me, but once in awhile there's a nice TOT I can use for background or novelty for kids. I guess that's how my stash gets larger.....not a good thing since I haven't been able to put out as much as what comes in. Wish it worked that way as easily for the finances!

I agree with that sticker shock. I have one shop nearby that prices most everything $10.99 a yard. Yikes. It's not a wonder I go online more. I have Marshalls bookmarked but haven't ordered from them yet, sorry. In some cases, online is the best. Fabric Depot in Portland is pretty good.

I have gotten seeds from them twice and the last time the USPS messed up the envelope and they had stamped; hand stamp, seeds inside. So the problem is the USPS. The seeds I got from Wintersown.org had the same problem, but my seeds were small and came thou okay.

Yes. I just received an order a few days ago actually (so I can't really say how it will do in the long run). I ordered a Crassula moonglow. It is a very nice specimen (you can see a pic in one of my recent posts, just scroll down a little...it's an ID post). Aside from the nice plant I received, their communication is great, and they are very accomodating (after I ordered, I was going away the week of delivery...so they held it for me and shipped it a few weeks later, the same date as promised). Their shipping is fast (they shipped on Monday and I received it on Thursday, and they ship the first Monday after you order). I would absolutely recommend them. I know I'll be using them again. Sherry: Rust could be a problem if you receive an order in the fall from a vendor who bought and grew a new rusty plant from another vendor. That's what happened to Bonnie at Oak Hill. Another vendor who she thought was safe inadvertently sent her a rusty plant in late spring. Since I had rust that one time I'm very careful about buying plants in the fall or any time other then early spring. People like myself appreciate the warning Bonnie gave as soon as she knew she may have a problem later that year..............Maryl

I've already received my plants from Windyhill and they are beautiful! I absolutely recommend them. I ordered two and got two bonuses. The bonus plants were just as large and healthy as the ones I ordered (and more valuable). Raymond was great to communicate with too. Everything I order now is to further my hybridizing goals and I am downsizing my collection to make room for newer plants. But I still don't have room for the new plants I ordered because I started way, way too many seedlings over the winter! I compulsively order and then frantically try to find a spot somewhere. I will have to do more downsizing it seems:)

Thanks for your replies. I find the pricing pretty depressing and will probably do a bit of buying on line. I'd like to buy locally, but at those prices I just can't do too much. Will update if I do order from Marshall's & let you all know how it goes.
