Did Anyone Get Flowers For Mother's Day?

I received two different hanging baskets of flowers. One has purple and yellow snapdragons and petunias and the other one has white petunias. I have them hanging on my front porch. Just wondered if anyone else might have gotten some flowers or plants for Mother's Day.

I got an absolutely beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers fromt the kids and their significant others. It was completely unexpected, and they didn't need to do it. I do a lot for them though, and I guess they wanted to express their appreciation.

Happy Mother's day ladies and I'm glad you were recognized :)
No, my husband wanted to save money so he didn't get me anything. It actually hurt, although he said he would make up for it by taking us out to eat today. Somehow it's just not the same :(

That post from the Jolly Nguyen (jolynguyen) in Can Tho, Viet Nam brought back fond memories. I had a McNamara scholarship (all expenses paid) to the University of Viet Nam after high school and spent a little time around there. The Basa/Swai fish you buy at the market is raised in pens in the Mekong River down there, just downstream from the outhouses hanging over the river. I hope that doesn't mess up anyone's dinner plans.

I love Boronia. Get the right spp (B. megastigma) and your garden will be a perfume delight on a balmy summer evening. Problem is that I have never been able to keep then alive for much over a year. I live on the East coast of Australia while the best Boronias come from Western Australia, and WA plants generally hate growing on the East coast. :-((

After my mom left yesterday to go home (after a wonderful weekend together!) my DH and DS and I went to Menards to get a few things. We've been looking for a nice ornamental tree for our front yard and happened to find the perfect one, a weeping cherry tree, and it was on sale (!). We weren't even tree shopping, we just happened to start walking through the tree section after I found a few annual flowering plants. We were thrilled!

No Flowers...I don't like getting flowers unless they are something I can plant..Cut flowers don't last long enough.

My kids usually get me garden things...

This year one of them got me a big concrete thing for my garden...square on the bottom, round in the middle and pointy on top...LOL..has a design on the round part. Good discription huh...It's for the garden but I haven't figured out where I'll put it.
I don't think it is actually concrete because it's not that heavy, but looks and feels like it.

Then I got from the other daughter hanging solar lamps to hang on the porch on each side of the steps.

Jeff gave my a fancy clay pot filled with chocolates, candles, Some really good smelling hand and body lotion, and a rose. And plans to take me to a plan I think is called "Wican" (something like that) the story of the witches before "the Wizard of Oz"
Not sure if I want to go ....

Denny bought me a necklace with a solitaire diamond. He was so proud of himself. He also bought the girls smaller diamond earrings.

Yes, DH and grandson, got me a dozen roses, all colors because the dgs said I needed some yellow ones, the yellow rose of Texas!! They smell sooo good. Just wish I had luck with roses, can't grow them for love or money.

Homemade, don't feel all alone. My husband never wishes me happy birthday, happy anniversary
, Happy Mother's Day or anything and of course no gifts. Maybe a gift at Christmas after the girls ask what he got me. This past year he gave me a riding mower! I know he had already bought it because he thought it was a good buy. I am 74 years old and that is just what I wanted, ha, ha. Of course we never go out to eat. I don't know how they can be so insensitive.

Indirectly. My daughters presented me with a basket of garden supplies. I guess I have to grow my own!

I got a beautiful bouquet of white flowers in a blue vase from my son & his family. He knows I love receiving flowers. DD & family sent cards, DH and I went out to breakfast and he gave me a beautiful card.

Yep, I received roses from my daughters along with a pair of earrings they picked out. Wayne is getting me a truck load of mulch that I asked for and he also made me breakfast. Very nice day. NancyLouise

Got a nice plant from DH and unusual Walmart card. Had a small package of seeds attached. I don't do jewelery, or cut flowers. Prefer plants. Went to local cafe with kids and gk and greats. We are not emotional people as we do things thru out the year. This means more than a one day thing.

Pattico - do you mean the show Wicked? I saw it on Broadway a couple years ago and loved it! Very funny and interesting take.

No, I am not a mother, but I am a stepmother for 22 years. Never once even got a card. That hurts but I can't even bring myself to tell anyone how I feel. She had a great childhood and I ran myself ragged taking her places and doing things. (Not to mention all the secrets that were confided in me.) I keep telling myself maybe she'll understand some day.
Okay, done with my pity party!

I bought a flat of marigolds for my mom. I'll be planting them for her next weekend! LOL

My brother bought her a huge potted rhodendron. That will be going out on the deck for the summer. Can they be planted in the flowerbeds?

I bought myself a bunch of orange tulips because my daughters were not able to get home for the day. They did get me a new laptop for my birthday and Mother's Day however, so it's not like I've been forgotten.

I got a beautiful basket of flowers from oldest and his family, I was really shocked. Got a gorgeous bracelet and earrings from DH, youngest son came for dinner, as usual there was drama and he stormed out, then his gilfriend called and screamed at me. Other than that it was a lovely day.

Every Summer I get myself a hanging basket of devil's wing or angel's wing begonia for the hook beside my front porch.

On Mother's Day my DD brought me one.

No flowers for me from anyone, but that is okay and I am cool with it.
I know how much my kids love and care for me plus they need the money
more than I do. SO, I bought myself a hanging basket for Mother's Day.
It turned out to be a nice day with DS here and enjoying dinner with DH and I.

I LOVE getting flowers, and my family never disappoints!

I received money that I am spending on flowers that are going in the ground for my rather large yard. (over 3 acres)

I bought 6 hydragenas, 8 flats of petunias to go in different pots, 10 verigated wigelas (showy from spring to fall) for different parts of the yard, and 3 jackmanni clemantis and the towers for them to climb on. That took care of my mothers day monies.

not this year...my son who usually does, is losing his job in 2 months...but he gave me the sweetest card (the kind that make you cry)

No flowers because my family knows I think cut flowers are a waste of money. I usually get a pot of flowers of some kind but since we are gone so much nowadays that would also be a waste.LOL I did get cards, phone calls and text messages from my 2 DD's and oldest son and phone a call from youngest son.I also got a beautiful and touching card from DD's friend (since Jr. High) saying how I have touched her life and been a second Mom to her.Of course I cried when I read it.LOL She lost her mom 10 years ago. She house sat for us while we were in NM the last time. She even cleaned my house! I think I'll keep her.LOL

I asked for and got a beautiful new tree - Japanese Magnolia - it has large light pink flowers with deeper pink centers. It's a young tree, I will enjoy watching it grow and mature.

salgal...Yes...Wicked is what I meant...I just couldn't remember...but got clued in to the correct name at lunch today...So you think it is worth going to?
I'm not big on going places where you have to dress up...(don't have dress up clothes) and I don't like crowds.

Patti, it's definitely worth going to! I loved the book and want to see the play when it's in Seattle in the fall. I've heard it is excellent! It's a great story.

My son gave me a huge hanging basket of plum colored petunias, my favorite kind with the heavily veined throats. It's gorgeous! And it's presently hanging from my living room ceiling because we're expecting a frost tonight.

My only concern: When the basket is this full in May, what's it going to look like in July and August?

I got a beautiful hanging basket from youngest daughter and family, a little green machine ( I had been wanting one) from them and our son and his family. We all met for supper tonight and went to grandson's ballgame. This next Saturday they are all coming and help me get my flower beds cleaned out and planted. Great kids. Hubby doesn't do the gift thing but he is so good to me in so many other ways. Had a great Mother's Day....

My two DD took me out to lunch, we had a nice time. They are so different, it is amazing to me that I am the mother of the both of them.
They love each other, but fight all the time, which is ok with me, as they love me and each other just the same.
My son, who is never in the picture anymore, sent me a nice letter.
I hope when I am gone they all get together again, and find peace in the family I brought then up in.
It is days like this that all our kids need to stop for just a minute and know from where they came.
    I had a great day.

I've only received flowers from my husband twice in the 25 plus years I've known him. He gave me flowers when I had chicken pox and we were dating. He also gave me flowers on an anniversary about 8 years ago. Brought them to my classroom even! I was shocked. My husband isn't big on gifts, but he treats me well throughout the year. I'd rather have that. He did surprise me this year with a huge Starbucks gift card. Everyone in the family turned in their coins and it came out to be $77. They know how much I love my mochas! My daughter made me breakfast in bed. My husband gave me breakfast in bed on Saturday. (He does this almost every weekend, though.)

A mixed bouquet from husband and a gorgeous ceramic planter filled w/ cosmos and four other plants, plus three or four more gifts from DD. Son gave me a gorgeous set of solar lights shaped like champagne glasses. I put them beside the pond.

I had to work Sunday in the Pro shop. The course was closed for maintenance, but I still had to be there to answer the phone and take tee times. Hubby brought me in a nice boquet of flowers. In the afternoon we went to Olive Garden for dinner.
