Nice room! Lovely bed and great bedding choice! Your TV solution is just fine!

First -- consider adding bamboo blinds (or woven blinds) to your windows. Hang them so that they would disguise the window moldings -- and hide the fact that the windows are different sizes. THEN hang your pretty curtains. The blinds would add to the "natural" vibe of your decor -- plus add visual texture and interest.

Next -- consider lighting. Add lamps (Maybe oil rubbed bronze?) around the room -- matching ones on each side of the bed. Plus one on the dresser and perhaps a standing one by the long mirror. Or you could hang the mirror and add a lamp over it for even better lighting.

Then -- head over to art.com website. Simply browse through some of their categories and see what kinds of artworks "grab" your attention. Flip through decor magazines and see what artworks work for you too.

For a simpler artwork solution -- hang two 5x7 black-and-white photos of your home or family or local antique scenes or gardens ((just examples!!)) -- mat them in larger-than-normal sizes and frame them in black -- over your dresser. The larger sized mats will make the photos look more fresh and modern.

I would not hang anything on the walls around the bed area until you get some lamps there first ..... and try the bamboo blinds. You may find that visual texture is enough for that area.

Very nice bedroom. Like the wall color. What kind of wood are the doors that you want stained. And do you have any idea of what color stain you are thinking of using? I think I would prefer white doors but then again your idea might be very nice. I am just bad at visualizing.

I love teacat's suggestions. You have gorgeous hardwood, rug and bedding. Nice wall color, too. Black and white photos just like she said, would be great, the blinds covering the window insets also. You could paint them, I've done that in older houses but it's a real pain (at least for me).

Don't know why you didn't like a mirror over the dresser, but then I'm the type who has always thought "the more the merrier" when it comes to mirrors. If you had one there you could put the black and whites elsewhere in the room.

Yes, lamps. It really isn't as dark in there as it appears in the photos but I do want some bedside lamps. I hadn't thought about ORB but I think you hit it on the head.

I like the photo idea and I have lots of cool shots but do you think a modern style is right for that room?? My DH hates the furniture though so I imagine in a couple of years we'll be changing it.

Thanks! The doors are stain grade pine. I know, I know, pine doesn't take stain well but I HATE to paint over them... I had actually considered just sealing them with a matte poly and calling it a day. I realize it would be introducing yet another wood color into our scheme but I've agonized long enough about how to stain them and have them look good. I suppose I've gotten used to looking at them blond so leaving them like that doesn't bother me.

Building this house has just taken a toll on my brain, it's unbelievable how many decisions have to made that impact everything in the space. I'm just so tired...

You have a very good starting point... I have no tips for you, since I am in the same boat myself! But, I just wanted to say I love the wall color, curtains, rug, etc...

I think if done 'correctly' you can have different wood tones, but that is where you need a color expert.. Ideally, I would stain the doors the color of the floor.. but if it would be too hard to match, then it would be no different than keeping them natural!

Love your wall color and furniture. I'd like to see the bed move over a little to the right so it's centered between the right edge of the window and the wall. The nightstands seem too small/short to me, but you didn't ask about that! Lamps on the nightstands would be great, and be careful to get them tall enough. Can you put the standing mirror over in between the entrance and closet doors, or will the entrance door knock into it? I agree with leaving the wall behind the bed alone, and the woven wood blinds would be a great addition. I'd love to see something round over the dresser by the bed, but the only thing I can think of is a mirror, and I know you don't want that! Maybe a landscape?... something pretty that you'll see as you wake up in the morning!

I see what you mean about the bed looking off kilter however there is only 36" between the bed and wall on the right side and 42" between the dresser and bed on the left. I'm afraid moving it to the right would make that space to small :o(
The night stands are tiny and short but I needed a simple, inexpensive solution to those for the moment so I bought those. I'm hoping a tall enough lamp will bring the eye up. Which brings me to, how tall should they be?
We tried the mirror behind the door, I like it better there but my 2 year old likes to come crashing into my room and I fear for the poor mirror.
I think I might like a round mirror over the dresser, I just didn't want the mirror that came with it since it goes all the way down to the dresser top. Some seperation there would look better!

I need to look into the blinds and see what's available. We are pretty tapped out right now and still have to put in a 60'X 10' porch across the front of the house. Not whining, I'm LOVING all the great suggestions!

Add my vote to paint the doors in fresh white!

A round mirror -- along with a lamp -- would really be useful above the dresser! Maybe a white-painted mirror that would work in well with the rest of the white accents.

THEN you could hang a series of four black-and-white photos -- again -- try the 5x7 format with larger creamy white mats and black (or white?) frames on the wall where the full-length mirror is standing .....
