Have you tried the Lees comfort waist band jeans? I get them at Kohls.

Jasdip, have you tried Levi's. They dont seem to bag out like other brands. Also sounds like you are trying the even sizes, you might want to try the Jr sizes, they are cut a bit different, and for me, anyway, they fit much better. Tommy jeans are another one that fit really well, and dont bag out, even in the stretch.

I read to buy the stretch jeans a size smaller than you think... they may look tight when you first put them on, but should hold up better for the long haul.

I too find Levis and Tommy jeans do hold up well in the "behind" area... but I have problems in the waist area, and for that, I find buying a higher rise, especially in the back, helps a little.

maybe on the "regular" jeans take a nip and tuck at the waist? they're cheap enough you could have it done...

I've always had trouble buying jeans.
My figure is the reason-my waist is somewhat small (25 inches) and my butt is big-39 inches. So if it fits the waist I can't pull them on over my fat thighs and rear. And if the bottom fits, the waist bags. Thanks for the tips-I will try Lands End.

Jasdip - I know from the cooking forum that you are Canadian, so check out Mark's Work Warehouse or the Bay for Levi's "Perfect Waist Jeans" They look like regular Levis, but the waistband is has a wide elastic on the inside (they don't look "gathered") and the way they are cut - the waist fits perfectly. I have always had the same hips to waist ratio problem as you with jeans and these jeans are the answer. Both stores often have Levis on sale.

I ordered some stretch jeans that I saw on TV a couple of nights ago. They told me to order a size smaller. I will have them in a week or so.

I'm another one with larger hips (or a smaller waist). I don't think stretch jeans are good for this body type, and I don't buy them. I buy a pair that just barely fits in the hips (knowing that they always stretch a bit once you wear them), and then wear a belt. (I've thought of having the waist taken in, but have never done it.)

I have tried the Land's End custom jeans, but even though I gave the most accurate measurements I could, they didn't fit well.

You might try Eddie Bauer jeans. They have several varieties of fit, and they describe the fit very well. Pick one that's eased or curvy through the hips.

By the way, I hear the complaint about jeans not being too big at the waist often. I'm surprised that lots of manufacturers don't manufacture pants just for this figure type.

I'll be 50 this year and for the first time in my life I am actually wearing jeans. I've never liked them because of the fit. Need more around the waist and a lot less in the legs. Have no hips and flat butt. What I do it scope out the goodwills, jeans are always abundant. I've tried on all the brands and for me, Gloria Vanderbilt - Amanda works great. I've also purchased Tommy Hilfigers straight legs.
The choices are great and I'd just assume be unhappy with them down the road and have spent only $4.99 versus the ungodly prices in the stores.

Two.25acres, you have the same body type as my sister. If you haven't already tried stetch jeans, you should try them - they're perfect for your body type.

Levi's fit me perfectly and don't stretch/bag out.

But everyone's body is different.

I love Coldwater Creek jeans. You can get high waisted (which is what I like) and they don't bag out. They fit really well and are very stylish.

I never thought about Mark's for jeans, so that's a good tip. We have Marks right near here.

I was out today looking, and thought I'd found a real deal. They were dirt cheap (if anyone lives near a Bluenotes outlet, and are a slim size, make sure you go).

I bought the size that would normally fit, but they didn't. Since they only have an exchange policy (no fitting rooms) I now have to go back and buy something.

So it's Marks, or the Bay in all likelihood. I'll look for the Rider style while I'm there. Thanks for all the tips!

Another one who loves Lee jeans. I've been buying Wal-mart jeans with the stretchy stuff but I hate them. The waist is too low and in 2 hours they are sagging everywhere, especially in front, where I keep having to check to make sure my shirt is pulled down or my underwear would show.

An old friend of mine sent me a couple of her old Lee jeans after I lost some weight. I love them.

If you have a Penney's store near you, check that out. They have tons of things and a good variety of styles. I have your exact complaint, the stretch jeans stretch out too fast, too much.

Life's eternal searches: a great purse and well-fitting jeans. Sigh.

GAP and Old Navy for me.

I used to buy Lee Riders but they've changed. They have a stupid tummy panel in them that cuts right across the pockets making the pockets useless.

So I switched to Levis Low Rise boot cut. They have a little bit of stretch but hold their shape pretty well. Since I am thick in the waist I have less muffin top with them than I did with the Riders. Even though they are called low rise they are just a bit lower than mid rise. They cover the fanny well and dip to just above my belly button.

I like the Lee comfort fit also - but I get mine at KMart. Any jeans from WalMart never fit right after awhile for me - no matter the brand.

I am on the lookout for a new pair of jeans too but the only ones I could find on the weekend were jeans that were "streaky" and I don't like those. I prefer the darker blue denim.

Last pair of jeans I bought were from the Bay and were stretch bell bottoms and fit perfectly (a size smaller) but they don't carry the style anymore. I have a hard time finding a good fit because if they fit me on the butt and the hips they bag funny at the top of my legs. When I go into the stores for plus size jeans I find the pockets on the jeans are too decorated for my liking.

I was just saying to my friend I wish Levis made jeans for plus sized women and if they do I can't find them.

I too like the Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, they seem to be more for a woman's body and shape. They come in stretch and non. It really depends for me how much spandex is in the fabric mix, look at the tags and if the spandex mix is high they will bag out and get stretchy, if just a small amount of spandex they will be more like regular jeans.

Soon as I saw your post Raven, I checked my jeans. Shoot, they have varying degrees of cotton 75-98% but all have 2% spandex.
It must be the Walmart styling or something. I can practically pull them right off of me, buttoned up by the middle of the day, they are so out of shape.

I didn't go shopping today.....dread the thought of going out 2 days in a row. I'll attempt it again on Friday with Value Village and a couple of other second-hand stores thrown in the mix :(

Hey! I had this problem for a while. I hated how jeans would fit perfectly at the store and then be super baggy after a few hours.

I got lucky with Baby Phat, which fit like a glove (with a tendency to be stripper-tight after washing). Later, I found some Jordache jeans, which worked even better than the Baby Phat. Both are tight after the dryer, but loosen. I was happy to find, though, that they don't lose their shape at all!

I got both these at Walmart for 10-12 dollars a pair. Total steal!
I find that the ones with 2% spandex keep their shape, while others without (like the new Fit jeans from Target), don't. I don't know what that's about, though. :(

Check JC Penney for Alfred Dunner brand. I love them as they wash nice. They also come in short, reg, and long.
Check LL Bean on line. I won't buy from Land's End anymore as we has serious problems at Christmas time. Their products have changed recently.

If you need bras, I highly recommend "Barely There". They really live up to their name. I absolutely hate wearing a bra, but society demands I do so in public. They really are the least restricting bra I've ever had. They give a lot of support and have little "daisies" in the cup so you aren't embarrassed wearing a tee (if you know what I mean). Are we allowed to say "nipples" here?

L. L. Bean sells a really nice jean. You can easily return if you don't like or they don't fit.

After trying on three different pair of jeans I told my GF I was gonna give up and just go home...

I was bit*hing to my Stepfather and Mom about the horridness of clothes shopping. I mentioned the 2% Spandex and he figures the percentage should be higher, as the spandex isn't bringing them back into shape enough at only 2%.

I put on a pair of summer pants today. Size 14, they fit, but the waist is farrrrr to big. I wore a long top anyway, but they felt uncomfortable all day. Sometimes 14's I can't get on and then 15's fall off. Sigh.... to be a man. DH buys his size off the rack....anywhere, any brand and they fit.

I've been getting very nice comfortable bras at Dollar General for $6.00 They are made by Bobbie Brooks (which used to be a popular brand abour 40 years ago) They are called Non-wire Comfort Lace Bras and they also have a non-lace kind. They go up to 44D I think I have 6 now they come in a see thru plastic pack They give nice support
Also my favorite pair of old jeans is also a Bobbi Brooks brand and now are very well worn and a little bagy

I had posted back on that bra thread about the bras I found that I actually can wear and like and stand to be in them all day, I ended up buying several of them on sale and qualified for the bra club so they just sent me a $30 coupon code to get my free bra, I got another one of the same bra.
I now have a nice colorful collection and am still really liking this bra.
Plus I can find lots of 30-40% off coupons with a quick google search.

this summer I have lived in my Old Navy cropped pants they are exactly like the yoga pants but in a capri length, I love their yoga pants, I wear them all the time when it is cooler. They are the most comfortable fabric and fit me perfectly. For 4th of July they had a buy 2 get one free sale and they were already marked down I stocked up!
