Good Morning all! I see it has changed some since I was last here! Hurray! Come on out the rest of you! It doesn't have to be a big box, just a little token of friendship and celebrating coming spring, which I think everyone is so ready for!! Sorry, I haven't been on much. My grandson is down with the flu! Not sure if it is a 48 hr. thing or if he should start getting better today! Just in time for me to get, as we are suppose to go to Springdale for my granddaughter's 13th birthday party Saturday! And I certainly don't want to miss it! She's my only girl and she is a girly girl!! Oh Lord! Mareas-so glad things are going better for you! I would love to see where you live! I bet it is very gorgeous there! Welcome to the little swap! Please stop in and post whenever you can! And everyone else also! Sharon-wonderful for you to join! (and everyone else also!) I know what you mean about peeking at your seeds every morning! I have broccoli, brussel sprouts, peppers, tomatoes, ornamental peppers, and other items, besides my flowers are waiting to pop up. I now have 6 lemon meyer seedlings about an inch tall! I peek at them several times daily!! For those of you who would join if was a little later-just send a little yard ornament or trinket and nice note with an IOU for a plant when they come up! It's not about what we get, just the fun in knowing someone is thinking of you and cares enough to send a little something! Soemthing to pick up everyone's spirits in the lousy economy everyone is having these days! Shirley-I hope things are going better with your Mom. Please keep us posted! Wow!!! I received two cards last week and three more yesterday. Rbrady sent Oriental Poppy Mix and Delphinium Fantasia Mix. Highalttransplant sent Celosia Cockscomb Red Mix, Gaillardia 'Goblin', Yellow Marguerite,and Oriental Poppy Brilliant Red. Dimples sent Montauk Daisy, Lady's Mantle, and Carrot Danvers Half Long. shropshire_lad sent Hollyhock, Milkweed, Aster Tiger Paws Mix, and Auntie's Rose. Colcol sent Russian Sage, Common Orange Poppy, Shirley Poppy Mixed Colors, California Poppy Orange, Zinnia Lilliput Mix, Red Corn Poppy, and some adorable seed packets. Thank you all so much!!! I love everything and I can't wait to grow all these wonderful seeds. Imagine, I was thinking of doing less winter sowing this year. LOL What was i thinking? Thanks again everyone, Pat

And, you can sign up for any of the next sessions...at any time. lol I'm easy to please. @:) We enjoyed watching the Curling events during the Olympics, I'm surprised I haven't seen this listed on any of our sports channels. bummer! Yahoo, Ingrid!!! I’m thrilled that after all the roses I’ve “copycatted” from you, you ordered one on my recommendation! I do think you will be pleased with Bolero. It’s a blooming machine, and they make wonderful cut flowers. Did I mention the fragrance? Delightful!!! I really love this rose, and would NEVER have ordered two more, if it hadn’t been so wonderful here. The only negative reviews I’ve ever read about Bolero were from a few people who didn’t have enough summer heat for this rose to bloom properly. That’s not an issue for me, you, or Daisy. Bolero usually blooms a creamy white, but sometimes mine blooms with a tinge of soft blush pink. Bolero’s blooms are VERY much your style, Ingrid. We like similar roses, so I think you’ll be very happy with it. May I ask where you ordered from, and when your Bolero is coming? Daisy, I hope you’ll be able to try out Bolero, as well. I too, PREFER OGR’s, but I plant anything that appeals and performs. I’m not prejudiced against modern roses. If I fall in love with a rose, it doesn’t matter to me if it’s old or new. Just think, Daisy. If you hadn’t asked about it here, Ingrid may not have looked into Bolero. I certainly wouldn’t have posted the above photos. You helped me enable Ingrid into a rose for the very first time. Usually, it’s the other way around:). I’m still working on enticing Ingrid into Mel’s Heritage. I think just 3 tall and sturdy pieces of rebar pounded into the ground, would support him, Ingrid. My soil is so rich compared to yours, surely he wouldn’t grow so large so quickly there. He really doesn’t mind pruning or the removal of whole canes, I’m finding. The canes are lightweight and flexible. Canes could be fastened around the “tripod”, and then allowed to cascade down. Notch ear and friends would probably take care of pruning the cascading canes for you. I wouldn’t rule out this gorgeous heat lover, yet. I’m intrigued by your list Maria! I’m impressed/flattered that you know I grow Flamingo Gardens Tea! I forgot to mention that one, but it IS a champ in the heat for me. I’m glad you reminded me. I imagine if I let it out of its pot, it would probably bloom even more. Any rose that will bloom and stay healthy in a pot in full sun here, is a real winner in my book. Those half barrels dry out quickly, but Flamingo Gardens Tea blooms on. I do hate the sight of those ugly spent wads of petals, though. I try to remove them ASAP. My FGT is blooming today. Here’s a quick picture. Sorry, I tried to use a piece of cardboard for shade to take this, but it didn’t go as planned:) I’m going to look up Eugene Beauharnais. Thanks for the suggestion.
