What color to paint hutch? Pics included

Picked up a hutch on craigs list and want to paint it for my eat-in area of the kitchen. I don't have picture of the actual hutch (it's already torn apart and primed) but it has a base with doors/drawers and the top is open shelves. Pardon the lighting on the photos as the sun is out this morning. Thanks!

Wall where hutch will go. Oak table/chairs also in space.

Kitchen area next to eating area. Cabinets are maple, wall color in entire area is Macadamia.

Thanks! That is an excellent suggestion. I held up River Reed C11-2 Olympic from Lowes and it was stunning. It also was a beautiful color with the paint in my master bedroom which is Olympic Crocodile Tears C12-3. Unfortunately I also need to get something to go with my dolphin, turtle and fish shower. It wasn't quite as stunning with that. I fiddled around with the greys in that area and like Sherman Williams Silver Strand 7057 but I don't know if I want to paint the little shower room a different color than the master bath. And I'm not sure I want to do a straight grey in the master bath as it is very large with a huge mirror so it would become alot of grey to be surrounded by. I've got the full Sherman Williams and Benjamin Moore color fan decks here at home so if you have a color in mind that you think would work well let me know. Thanks again! Can you elaborate on this and offer some suggestions? I am not very good with colors...thanks. I just realized, too, that my description on one of my pictures is misleading. Here is our current accent wall where you can see some contract between the main wall color and accent wall color, but in daylight the contrast is almost non-existent: And here is a picture showing new, darker accent colors we are sampling. We will likely darken the LR accent color to give us the contrast we are looking for but we are not sure what to do with the green in the kitchen. Thanks for any additional advice or recommendations you can make.

Maybe one idea is to go with a monochromatic look, with a main wall color a couple of shades lighter than your sofa color, and the accent wall a couple of shades darker. It's always hard to judge color accurately on a computer screen, but possibly look at some colors like Tucson Winds 1024, White Oaks 1080, or Cedar Key 982. Then look for a throw, pillows, and/or other accents in a blue gray for some contrast. If you wanted a more dramatic accent wall, I suppose you could make that a blue-gray color too.

I don't know the name - but there is a primer you can buy that takes the sanding step out of painting furniture. I buy painted furniture from a local shop that does cottage-y shabby chic kind of decor, and when I bought the first piece there I asked the owner (who does alot of the painting) what the steps were so I could do a dresser and dry sink that I had. I followed her directions and the pieces I've done came out great. I just looked in the garage but the paint can isn't there - I think we took it to our Newport house b/c we're doing painting there. But I bought it at a paint store (not a big box store's paint department) and I'm sure any paint store with qualified workers would be able to point you in the right direction.

Offtopic here, how did you finish the edges of your countertops? I love it. Love the crown, too...

Countertop was here when we moved in. It's a pattern laminate with a solid decorative edge. thanks

I'd probably go with black to echo your appliances, or a deep, dark red to echo the accessories in your family room. On either one I'd antique/stain the edges of the piece to give it a little extra character.

Can't wait to see the finished product!

I love the color palette in your space, check out Ralph Lauren website for Edwardian Burgundy,I think this might work. can't wait to see the finished piece!

I can't remember when....some time back....but someone here showed pics of an armoire they painted. It had a black undercoat then it was painted red. Does anybody remember that? Seems like they sanded the red back to reveal the red undercoat?
