I love my salad spinner! I used it more often when we used to grow our own.......but I have three containers planted with lettuce this year, so I'll be spinning away. :-)

I used to think they were a gimmick- until I was given one. Now I wonder what I did without it all those years.

I absolutely love mine. Use it almost every day.

Also, love mine. The first one I bought came from Crate and Barrel, the one I have now came from Target, works as good and was much cheaper.

I wouldn't be without my salad spinner, I love it. I also tear the lettuce by hand.

My first and only spinner was bought in 1980. I use it at least weekly for loose leaf greens. I never buy head lettuce. There is always at least 2 big bags of cleaned and spun greens in my fridge.

Love the spinner! Mine has a big "crystal" bowl that also comes in handy for serving salad when we have a big group over.

Did I ever tell you about the first time Woody used it? He, um, neglected to put one hand on the lid when pulling cord (like he was trying to start a reluctant lawn mower) to spin it and he launched that big bowl of torn greens all over the kitchen and then HE had he nerve to get mad! I wanted to be mad! lolol The dogs were happy, they LOVE lettuce and were eating it up as fast as they could go. Fortunately for Woody, there was only a little damage to the spinner but a lot to his pride. rofl

we've never had one..i did the old wash, drain, then cut (i know, bad) and wrap in a towel...

i do buy head lettuce alot, as we eat it shredded (mexican food style) or leaved for sandwiches...

they have a "boxed" salad at costco that's sooo good. field greens with cranberries, dressing and feta cheese...one of our local chicken places, has a version with mi cherries and grilled chicken...yum-o...

I use mine only occasionally because I don't like to make salads. I just like to eat them. LOL! Lazy, I guess.

However--in the days when the kids used to play with the Tupperware, pans, etc., they loved the salad spinner. Used to put stuffed animals in and give 'em a ride!

I was given one as a gift from my friend Donna when we first started our vegetable garden. She had used one for years and I fondly call her "The Salad Queen" because her salads are the best. We grow tons of lettuce. I couldn't live without mine....love it, love it, love it.

We have a salad dinner about once a week. Last night was salad night, so I used the spinner. Years ago, I had a tiny kitchen, with limited cupboard space. I was not in this house a month before I had a salad spinner!

Has anyone heard of "Spin N Stor" lettuce cleaner bags? I saw a show last weekend about it. Sure would take up a whole lot less space than a conventional spinner.

If I made more salads, I'd probably get the bags simply because I don't have room to store a big spinner.

I love, love, love my salad spinner. When I got mine it included a smaller bowl for berries and I love that too. I think I'll do a salad for my dinner tonight!

I bought one at the thrift store for around $1. I use it a lot all year long because I grow lettuce year around. It does a good job in getting the water off, but not in cleaning. I must have about 30+ lettuce plants in the garden at one time. I pick a couple of heads at a time, clean them, then spin them and put them in a bag in the refrigerator so always have lettuce for sandwiches and salads.

I got my Salad spinner at Goodwill. I love it. A salad spinner is practically a necessity is you grow your own lettuce or buy from a farmers market.

Nowdays they sell washed lettuce in sealed bags at the stores, but the gas they put into the bags makes the lettuce taste funny I think. I stoped buying it.

I don't have one, and really would have no place to store one if I did. I do get fresh lettuce from my parents, but that needs to be washed one leaf at a time cause I don't want bugs in my salad. :-)

Mine does a great job cleaning the lettuce, I fill the whole thing with water, tear the head of romaine or leafy lettuce apart and swish all the leaves around for a bit, then I lift the strainer bowl out, pour out the dirty water (lettuce comes with fruit flies in it, it's disgusting!) and then put the strainer back in and spin it dry. I can't imagine not having one anymore.

We eat a great deal of salads, almost every night a salad with our meal, but I've never gotten one. I always figured it would end up just another gadget I stuck in a corner and never used - but now it sound interesting :)

I never had one either.I just wash the lettuce,and place it in a bag i made from a pillowcase,gather the top closed and go outside and swing it around in the air.All that water coming off feels good on a hot summer day.Then i store it in a lettuce bowl with a paper towel in the bottom and one on the top,then put the lid on and store.It works better than those green bags for storage.Then just throw the bag in the wash ,store it in the dish towel drawer and it's ready for the next time.No big item to try to find room to stash.

I leave mine on the counter...I put away the crock pot , and that is where my spinner sits. f=Flamey that story is hysterical I can just see it. Mine is an oxo which requires you pushing down on a cap, many times I have taken off that lid before it actually stops spinning and woo hoo salad greens are flying.
