Gas prices

Sure took a drop in the past week. 20â per gallon drop in about a weeks time. I didn't catch it at peak high price but in normal fashion I was able to fill up before the price dropped too much. Blasted nice weather. Wouldn't have filled up that day if it had been snowing, windy and -20ð! Bring back winter! Oh well... That cheap gas probably isn't as good anyway, right? Yeah, that's it. I hear they water down the cheap gas... yeah, that's it... that's the ticket.

FWIW, was $3.999, I filled for $3.939 and today it's $3.799.

And it was interesting. I just paid my bills tonight and natural gas was down a lot too and electricity up a lot. 50% increase per kwh in a matter of months. Granted there's a lot of variables involved on it, but still, it's a big increase.

Gas in our area has been $4.28.9. Amber filled up yesterday at a station that gas was $4.17.9. Other places have not come down much at all.

Ours went UP $0.02/gal yesterday. Still have to fill up today, and with a 20 gal gas tank it really stings. I try not to let it get below half a tank, but I was travelling and the places I went through were priced higher than they are here. Still punches a big hole in the budget. Ouch.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but I have no idea what gas prices are in my area. I never really know, unless there's a lot of talk that they're much higher than usual and then I might pay attention. But we do so little driving - just to/from work (very close to home), gym, grocery store - that we don't have to fill the tanks often, and when do, it just is "what it is." We tend to go to the same two stations near our home, because they're convenient. I won't ever go out of my way to spend a little less per gallon.

$1.90 today for regular unleaded at Sam's Club, in the outer suburbs of Wash DC. The Shell and Exxon close to my house always have overpriced gas, currently at least $2.09, though other stations (like WaWa and 7/11) around the general area are as low as $1.91, almost the same as Sam's but not as convenient for me. Last week was the first time in ages that I filled my SUV for less than $40. When gas prices were at their highest a couple of years ago, I was paying close to $70 or so for a full tank. Not pretty b/c I put at least 20K miles on my car each year shuttling my kids around. Loving these low prices!

Freaky gas prices....

Usually when prices are low it’s only customary to find a line of cars waiting to take advantage. For the past 3 days, when I passed by there were no cars at all. Now THAT’s freaky too. I’m an essential worker and it was stunning to pay lass then 13.00 to fill up my tank.

Are you seeing gas prices increase/shortages?

Me too Nini. Because what people do not realize is that they are driving up the price of gas by doing this. The pipeline does not transport ethanol gasoline. Ethanol is added at the terminals, so basically at one of the large regional storage facilities. Ethanol is basically like an alcohol product and shouldn't be stored long term. Which is the reason you shouldn’t use ethanol gas in all your power lawn tools and you really shouldn’t store them for the winter with ethanol gas in them. Causes all sorts of long term problems with carburetors and injectors. Anyway, the gas that is at the terminals wont be used because the truckers aren’t going to be able to get there to transport it. They will be too busy trying to make deliveries to catch up and we will end up with price increase. Hopefully operations will get back to normal by Friday and people’s sanity will return for now.

Ours has gone down, bit by bit, for the past 2 days.

Now 3.94 in name brand stations.

Another interesting thing is watching a number of BP stations closing around here. Some might call it poetic justice? But I do feel sorry for the franchisees.

I see GasBuddy shows another 4â drop. Low price now $3.759

Ours isn't down at all and I don't understand it. I think they are absolutely gauging, some of the stations are at $4.05!

This week, crude oil futures fell from $112 per barrel to $98 per barrel. Gasoline price is expected to be less by Memorial Day weekend.

Don't forget that even if and when gas prices drop, nothing else will --food, clothing etc all are high and they are shrinking the packages.

$4.09 in town and $4.19 in our nearest city. happy I have a small car now.

Of course last summer I made extra cash on the side to pay for part of my gas purchases.

We paid $3.47 a gallon in Tucson on Thursday. Seventy miles SE of there where we live we are paying $3.79 a gallon.

Ours was $1.36/litre then came down to $1.33.
It should be cheaper than that, with the oil prices falling.

Thje last time I filled my gas tank in my car, it was $4.049 a gallon (about 2 weeks ago). I still have gas left so I'll fill up again around Wednesday. I haven't noticed changes in my electric and natural gas bills-I went on a "budget" plan in January when it was cold and dark!
