Moenstone sinks

I have a Moenstone sink in white. I really like it. I wonder if anyone else has put one in? In my new house, I was looking at Silgranit, but I like the smoother quality of the Moenstone. It does show black marks and "stains," but with a bit of elbow grease, they come out.

Is there a reason to do Silgranit over Moenstone?

Well, I've had my biscuit (cream) colored Silgranit sink since July. It doesn't show black marks, it doesn't show stains, and I have never needed elbow grease.... I really like it! That's part of why I say my new kitchen "cleans itself". More time cooking, less time cleaning.

Someone made the claim here that silgranit uses a higher quality plastic resin than other companies, but if it's true, the Blanco website doesn't emphasize it.

Our cast iron would get black marks from any pan. Had to scrub it out with Barkeepers friend. We don't have hard water, but weekly I would have to bleach with softscrub or Clorox bleach spray and do some scrubbing to get rid of discoloration. It was very sturdy, though, and we only had a couple pits in it within 13 years. We recently installed a Blanco and I love it. I will probably never go back. Very easy maintenance.

Charlikin, I looked a little further and found a couple of other suggestions: Kindred's granite composite - 25-3/4"L x 22-3/16"W x 9-1/8"D Â Scroll down to the single bowls Â They come in graphite, polar white and ivory. Astracast's granite composite - 25"L x 22"W x 8"D Â Astracast's composite granite Â They come in alpine white, sahara stone and metallic black Are these too wide for your counters? I had a problem finding the right sink, too. I have a 29" sink base and couldn't find anything that fit my specifications. For some reason they seem to make sinks really big or really small. Nothing in between. I went back and forth between granite composite and stainless. Then I ended up getting the Blanco Silgranit (511-712) 24" x 20 13/16" x 10". Yeah, it's deep and I'm getting used to the extra reach. But it certainly is beautiful! I was able to have my existing cabinets bumped out to accomodate the 20 13/16" width. I didn't want my fauct to be squished against the backsplash. I'm not trying to talk you into anything. Just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain. :-) So to answer the question that you actually asked about the stainless sinks, I agree with Weissman. "You really won't notice the nickel content or most likely the gauge either. Pick a sink because you like a look and the price." I don't think you could go wrong with Blanco or Elkay. They're both reputable names. HTH!

Ya know, it seems to me that it is a Law of Nature that running water, when it hits an obstacle, will splash. So it would be the angle of encounter that determines where to and how much splashing there is. Southernmum, I have never used your style of pullout, but it looks to me like the rear of it angles back in a way that would direct the water rearward-- and the resulting splash even more so. Do you think that is what is happening?
