Wow! Our Majestic Plum Pebbletec Looks Great!

Well, it's all in: the new dark taupe/gray slate pool tile, the flagstone coping with lots of darks and variations, and the new Majestic Plum Pebbletec with Shimmering Sea (abalone shells) and all I can say is WOW!!! My 30 year old freeform pool (we bought an old house) looks brand new!

In the shallow end (3.5 feet) it's a cool, light/medium blue with gray undertones; by the time it gets to the deep end (8.5 feet) the blue goes deep, with cool teal undertones, no yellowy undertones at all. Instead of a green tint, it has a blue/teal tint in the deep end. Perfect!!! It's slightly darker than Tahoe Blue, and cooler toned.

Can anyone give me a link to direcions on how to post photos here, and I will post some tomorrow?

I also am going to send photos to PebbleTec corporate, because my pool looks NOTHING like the sample pools they have on their website (all those pools look very light in color) nor does the water come anything close to the sample in all the printed and online materials. Very odd! I only had the courage to go with this based on the encouragement of natural_one (a PB) and cant_wait_to_swim (who has it!), who both recommended it highly. But it truly looks nothing at all like the print ads PebbleTec has out. I think they're really inaccurate on this with their photos and brochure color sample, and are probably killing sales. This really is a slightly deeper, cooler-toned version of Tahoe Blue.

I have an art background, so I kept analyzing the color chip, and with my understanding of color and light, and what I expected SHOULD happen when sun and water refracted over the purple plaster I just couldn't see how the brochure could possibly be accurate...it was like someone telling you that blue plus purple should make light green (IMPOSSIBLE!). Luckily, my guess was right. It does not show purple, it shows cool blue.

So THANK YOU to everyone who listened to me go back and forth over the past few weeks over the decision. I hope everyone finds a color they love as much as I love mine.

I just can't believe I own something so beautiful!

The color may change a little over the next few months as you brush. We are 1 year old and the color is still changing a little. Ours looks more like the samples then when we started.

We have Sandy Beach Finish and the Color Logics lights. We have a standard size pool, one light in the deep end of the pool and another in the spa. It probably would not have been a bad idea to have some small lights on the shallow end on the steps. The light does not completely light up the entire pool but I think another Color Logic light in the shallow end would have been too much. As for the Sandy Beach finish, we love it. When the pool was first filled we kind of freaked out because it did look greenish, but once the filters ran and the water cleared up it no longer looks green. It reminds me of going to the beach when the water is very very clear and you can see the sand on the bottom, the deeper water is more of a light aqua color, not green at all. We have lots of natural stone around the pool and it all blends in very well, I will try and take a picture tonight and post it. Cherie

Hi there, have not been on in a loooong time! Sdkath: do you still need the photos? I can probably dig some up if you do. The whole pool photo here where the water is riplling a lot is a good approximation. I have noticed that the shallow end water is slightly bluer in the summer (as shown in that photo) than it is in the winter when all the surrounding foliage and colors are gone; in the winter it is a shade cooler, a bit gray, absolutely NO GREEN. We keep the pool open all year not to swim, just for the aesthetics. Hate those black covers ugh, and my pool sparkles all winter long. kgolby: We have NO REGRETS AT ALL!!! Love it more all the time. Love that the color is just a bit differentthan everyone elses, too. Love that when we have people over they look at our pool and say, "I thought Pebble pools only came in black or Tahoe?" Because all you EVER see around here are those 2 colors. It is just a fantastic color, I could not be happier and I only wish my pool refinisher would tell people about it and let them come and see my pool. I am convinced it is the name "Majestic Plum" that flips people out. iswim: i will submit it, I just don't have a completely pristine photo yet where there are no toys, dogs, or hoses in the photo! :-) My pool is a 30+ year old pool, and the PebbleTec and flagstone updated it miraculously!

nc, can't wait to see the photos! Ours turned out great, we could not be happier with the color. We did have a similar problem to you, though, which is we lost about a dime-sized chunk of our PebbleTec. They were out today to look at it, and asked if I had bumped it with anything hard. ??? It's 2' underwater in the shallow end, what could I have hit it with? How are they fixing yours, are they draining the pool? They don't want to drain ours, want to mix up some pool putty with the purple colorant, and cover it with stones. Don't know what that will do for the overall integrity, so am wondering how they are fixing yours? Please post your pictures - I'd love to see the color! I cut and pasted the below from the "gallery" forum - I used the photobucket instructions to post photos. It's easier than it sounds - rwest did a great job with these directions!!

Here are three methods to post photos in either the Gallery or Discussion area. I see enough people asking I thought I would post it.
Ok, you have two easy ways to do it and one hard way

1) For quick posting: Go to www.tinypic.com.

Click the "Browse" button to find the picture you want to post from your computer.

Select the picture then click "Host It". After a few moments (depending on connection speed and size of the image) a few tags will appear at the bottom.

Simply copy and paste the entire contents of the "Tag" entry into your forum post.
Viola, you have posted a picture.

2) Recommended:Start a photobucket album (www.photobucket.com). Every time you post a picture, you will have a "Tag" entry to cut and paste into your forum posts. This is the benefit over the other online photo album sites.

3) Most difficult: Go to a picture you have posted in your Webshots or other album.

Right click on the photo and choose "Properties".

You will see the image url. Copy this URL and paste it into your forum post.

In front of the url add (img src=" including the quote but change the ( to a At the end of the pasted url add "> including the quote.

This process will work to link to any photo on the internet.
This will link back to your Webshots or other hosted photo.

That is photo posting 101. Good Luck.

A word of caution. Do not post a link back to tinypic in the "Optional URL Link". At times, people post undesirable pictures on tinypic.com. You do not want anyone to accidently browse to the next anonymous post to find an undesired photo.
