Is there any reason you have to buy online? Have you been to a local fabric store to see if they could order it for you? Richloom is a well-known label.

I don't know anything about ioffer.com, but the listing shows that the buyer accepts Paypal. Paypal has quite a bit of buyer protection built into it so I think it might be worth taking the chance if you have exhausted all other avenues for purchasing the fabric.

I just did a google search on the fabric name and checked one of the first places that came up. They seem to be able to ship to Canada... I always like sites that have physical addresses and phone numbers, which this placed does.

In the 12 years I've been buying on eBay, I've had two problems. Two.
Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. This isn't a very large hop.

If you buy thru PayPal, you have 45 days to contest a transaction. Keep all your correspondence thru eBay's messages & you have history of your attempts to resolve whatever issue you might have. If you prove you tried & no joy? The $$ show back up in your PayPal account.

I'd read that seller's feedback. I didn't look quickly, but 962 is a good number, but that not-so-happy little face might give you some insight. That's what feedback is for.

Les, unfortunately I live in a backwater with only one fabric store that deals mostly in remnants, but I could call and ask. That's a great thought.

Bestyears, I don't know how I missed that site. It looks like they might. I'll look closer after work. Like you say, it somehow feels safer using a bricks and mortar store.

Christine, I tried to view the seller's feedback, but couldn't. I'll try again tonight.

I've never had a problem with paypal and am worried about how effective they are if I have problems. It is good to hear people have had good dealings with them or at least feel secure using it.

I'm not sure that any brick and mortar store is any safer or more secure than shopping online. iOffer's been around for a while, and I think Paypal is pretty reliable. iOffer doesn't have the guarantees that eBay does, but people complain about eBay's service all the time as well.

I've seen that pattern in different colorways at Fabric Guru. I just checked and they have 93 yards of the spice color for $17.95/yd. I've bought fabric from them a few times and always had a good experience.
Go to fabricguru.com and search by Suzani and you'll see all the colors. The link I posted will take you right to the color you like. It's lovely fabric--I looked at it for a slipcover.

Thanks memazz, but fabric guru won't ship to Canada. I think I might just take that leap of faith and order from ioffer. Might just do 1 yard first - just to be sure.

I attached a better picture of the fabric below - for no other reason than I want every one to love it as much as I do. I think you can get a better idea of its colour and texture in the pillow. I'm a big fan of naturalish fabrics like linen and mohair velvet. Our sofa is cream cotton slipcover and I think the background colour in the new fabric will tie in well.

I recently saw this online at Fabric Guru. I purchased another fabric from them for a pair of chairs - they are actually only an hour from me (but online shopping only). It was the first place I checked, then saw someone else mentioned them also. Checking their website, they only ship to the U.S. :-/

memazz, wonderful to meet another fabric junkie. I almost got my family killed because I just had to hit the fabric store when we were travelling at Christmas. The two hours I spent caressing fabric meant we ended up driving thru the middle of a snowstorm we would have otherwise missed.

I just checked Ebay Canada and there are many many Suzani fabrics there. Now you know they ship to Canada, lol.

Paypal is great...and if you use a linked credit card instead of your bank account (I have the option to do either) you get an extra layer of protection.

Well, now I'm really peeved. The Richloom Cornwall Spice in 100% cotton is only available thru fabricguru. The other places are selling a linen rayon mix that is just not as nice (IMHO). I even tried one of those 3rd party shipping companies, but they want $200 to ship. I get way too fixated on things - must let it go, must let it go, must ...

Daisychain,do you know someone in the states who would ship the fabric to you if you had it sent to their address?

Not to be a wet blanket, but are you absolutely sure that that fabric is strong enough for upholstery? It's beautiful, but it would be a drag to see it wear so fast you have to replace it sooner than you'd like. Pillows and drapes, definitely. Maybe you can get a sample from somewhere first to be sure?

les, I do have cousins in the states. Unfortunately, I haven't kept up over the last few years (back to work after being a stay at home mom). I'd feel way too guilty to get in touch now only to ask a favour. We are only an hour from the border, so I could look into getting some sort of postal box I could get it sent to and then go pick it up. Just have to figure out how to do that and if it's worth the trouble.

Maybe that's a good thing flyleft. I'll just tell myself it wouldn't have worked anyways. But these are our good chairs that don't get much everyday use (except by the cat).

Hurray! I just discovered that the pattern in cotton is called 'Calder' rather than the blend which is called "Cornwall". I think I can find it now!

Daisychain-if your new link doesn't work out, check on how they ship before going the PO box route. UPS and Fedex don't ship to PO Boxes,,,unless it is to a Mailboxes Etc type place. They ship all packages for more of a service fee, and their PO Boxes are generally addressed to their address with a box # after that, so UPS can leave packages there.
Also, especially on ebay, a nice and polite phone call (or email) may greet you with someone willing to ship to Canada. We have sold a lot of vehicle parts on ebay, and sometimes I decide I don't want to ship out of the country, but anytime someone has asked, I have. Also, if you are ordering yards and yards and yards for slipcovers, they will probably be happy to have a several hundred dollar sale?

I love this site. I can't believe you guys. That is just wonderful. I will definitely check out the sites you've posted, but I think I found one that has it for about $15/yard. And flyleft, I will definitely order a yard first. It will also give me an idea of the reliability of the dealer as well as the fabric. In searching last night, I found it is described as printed on barkcloth and barkcloth is suppose to wear like iron. Thanks again.

Daisy, I had to create an account just to let you know that I bought that fabric at Fabricland in Canada. They had it in two colorways, and it was on sale for something like $9/yard if I remember well. I don't know where you are in Canada and if you have access to one of their stores. I could check for you after Easter if they still have it here. It is a good weight for upholstery; not as thick as the thickest upholstery fabric, but definitely sturdy.

Wallee, that is such a coincidence! Do you think it would be doable for slipcovers or would it be too thick to sew easily? We do have one of their stores here. It's one of the few fabric stores we have left and I used to frequent it often, but again with working full-time, it's easier to do my fabric drooling online. It would be pretty sad if I've gone to all this trouble and it was laying on a shelf 15 minutes from where I'm sitting. I'm dead centre Canada. I don't suppose you're nearby? Hi Daisy - sorry for the late reply, just back home in Ottawa. Yes I think it would be great for slipcovers. I bought it with no definite plans (slipped it past the fabric embargo instated in our house five rolls of fabric ago) just because it was pretty, and thought of maybe covering an ottoman with it. If you have a Fabricland, I'm sure they can also check what's in stock at other stores and ship it to your store. I will check the brand or any other marking that may help you identify it for the store people.
