Thanks for the feedback on the curtains. It sure is easier for me to do....nothing! Of course my dog has already managed to get tangled up in one and pull the entire thing (including rod) off the wall. And in less than 48 hours since hanging too! Thats gotta be some sort of record. Hopefully that doesn't happen again. Geokid, I wanted it your way too, and when we moved in tried to get it set up this way. I was vetoed and since I got to pick placement of every other room, I didn't argue too much. I can't recall the problem....maybe the dresser didn't fit on that wall? Some weird feng shui thing? nosoccormom - that light will likely be replaced with the oh so functional but not always attractive ceiling fan when we get around to it. It's close to a 100 year old house. It's been remodeled/rehabbed but not quite sure of how well it was insulated and how HOT it will get up there. We have lots of pretty windows, but they probably won't help much. Thoughts on a chair? It will obviously have to be small. I would love a pop of color over in that corner (I like color) but am not confident that I will find one that matches the rug. So how would another color like coral look? Too much?

@ad16 What I am saying is that with the green carpet you can incorporate almost any color that you love and it will work with the green. Think of flowers - they all come on green plants. Birds sit in the green trees. The green trees are backlit by the blue sky and white clouds. We all coordinate outfits every day, but when it comes to decorating a room we get stuck. Think of the green carpet like it was a pair of slacks. What color shirt and jacket would you put on? Each of us is unique and we all love different colors, but it would be harder to incorporate your favorite colors if you had a lilac carpet. The pictures I posted show how many colors work with green. You can choose to add more green or pick other colors from your inspiration piece to pick out wall colors and bedding and accent pieces. Pick one thing you love that has some of the green and build the rest of the room using the other colors. If you hung the chickadee picture in the room you could have gray walls and bedding with the pink/peach flowers with touches of green and it would work. If you used the white bedding with the brighter flowers you could keep your light walls and green carpet without change. If you picked the white bedding with the green leaves and butterflies you could do walls that are the peachy/cream color in the carpet. Only you know what colors you love, but unless the colors you love are lime green and fuchsia, you have a pretty good chance that you can make your favorite colors with with the green carpet.

For lamps, I’d go with square. I think that shape works better with your nightstands and they need to be much taller. You want the light to fall on the bed so that if someone where in bed reading, the light would fall on the book. I’d pull your bedspread all the way up. Lay your shams down flat(so you can see more of the headboard), remove the trellis patterned ones (too overpowering) and then just place the lumbar pillow in front of the shams. Get rid of the matching mirror and go with something more unusual with a blue frame. Add a white vanity tray to the dresser to break up some of the wood then place art over desk but I would do a set of four.

Jumping in, not sure if I read to quickly....... forgive me if it was mentioned. If you moved the bed closer to the vent....Could you use a leggy nightstand over it with a deflector? and a chest on the other side of the bed to give you the draws you need in the room? This will give you a place for two lamps in the room and a place for eye glasses, etc. to be placed. I am not a fan of a chest in the closet. It takes up the length I would need as a guest, because I wear lots of dresses in the summer and hang them up when I unpack. All dresses, tops and jackets get hung when I visit anyone and everything else pretty much stays in my suitcase. Consider a Luggage holder in the closet. One that can be folded and put away, kept in the closet, or moved to another spot in the room for the guest to use as they please. Consider a narrow console on the wall near the doorway, with a mirror over it and a chair. As a guest, I personally like doing my makeup in my room and also going on my laptop. This gives me a place to do both. I would add a chair there, but there may not be room for that, so maybe a pretty stool tucked underneath may do the trick. If there is room I definitely would add a chair with arms in the room. Maybe between the door and the nightstand, if there is room. *Overall, if something needs to go......It would be the chest of draws. I agree with those that mentioned, it is almost never used. At least when I travel. I would prefer two nightstands in the room. Extra pillows and blanket at the top of the closet :-) and hangers.
