As I was reading here tonight I see so many asking for prayers.

My heart goes out to all of you sick, worried......about your self or loved ones.....loss of friends and family

I will pray for all of you ....

How about a prayer circle....who will take my hand?

Thanks again guys. I have the stump and tree remover. I'm gonna remove it next week. Already made the order to get a western red-bud and a cherokee brave dogwood tree. BTW my dogwood tree has buds, some buds are even progressing so much i have some buds forming 2 other semi buds on the ends. However some buds aren't full size so should i worry about it? or will the buds still open up. But im noit worried about bradford suckers, if so i'll dig them up and give them to my ex-girlfriend lol

Sunburn in Oklahoma isn't soft and yellow, it's harsh and brown all the way. Since we rarely get a break once the heat begins, once the needle tips begin that browning process it will continue until the plant is dead. In some varietals you can put up some temporary sun screen cloth and limit the amount of needle damage that will occur and save the tree. But considering it's only mid-July and we have another 30-45 days of high heat to go, if it's browning now and you don't do something, it not only will kill the buds and branches, it will kill the tree. Water can help a lot of trees to combat the heat, but in some varietals it doesn't matter how much water you throw on the roots, under our heat they will succumb. In Oklahoma you really should have your trees on a drip system at least for the first few years until the root system has a chance to develop and settle in. You won't be able to get enough water deep enough with a regular hose/sprinkler type approach. But if it is sunburn, you will know it. mark

OK, I'll do as you say. No more water. It's supposed to rain soon, been going to do that for weeks now and then revised weather. Anyway, I'll clean up the mulch and give it back to the roses. Maybe I'll gently poke and see how deep the rhizomes are, I know I meant to just barely cover them, didn't want them showing above the surface. I can scrape some of the soil away if there is too much because I know I pointed them downhill toward the street. They are on the beginning of the slope of the terrace a little more level than down further where I'm putting in daylilies. I doubt they've been in long enough to do serious damage unless I planted them too deep. And they aren't going to bloom this year I don't think. I did consider that the first rain could wash some soil off the tops of them anyway since it's all new fill for new steps there and washes, will have to wait and see about that. I've got to ask about the daylilies, too, but will use that forum. Thanks again.

If you find that your grief is taking too much control of your life, you might want to find a support group or possibly see a grief counselor. This is what my doctor recommended for me yesterday, and I am starting to look for a support group. If you are single, like I am, it is even more difficult, and you might want to consider re-entering the dating scene. I do think it is a very good idea to talk to a group or a therapist about how you are feeling. I do not deal with these situations well myself either. At times like this I am reminded of Wordsworth's quote: "Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower; we will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind..." I'm not sure why I keep thinking of that quote, but it helps me a bit, and I am reminded of Wordsworth's contemporaries Shelley and Keats who did not live long enough to see 30. I hope your son get some help, as he is in a very difficult situation now. One of my very best and oldest friends died this year of a heart failure while riding his bike.
