Never MT- if you only have 1 soap dispenser then you need to choose hand or dish soap. OR you can pick a mild dish soap. Dawn makes such a product

Gel STain--It's awesome, you use it like paint and you can stain over old stain. You can also use it on things like steel doors and do a faux grain with a tool to make it look like wood door. Don't use the min wax version. The General Finishes product is a favorite here. I've also used Old Masters with success. Search for Celticmoon's kitchen here. Actually just search for gel stain in the search field at the bottom of the forum page.

Advantium--I think, it's a speed oven made by GE. I think. I don't have one.

Already did look up the acronyms and am already TKO :) Told you, I've been reading (and googling) a lot! :) Just trying to figure out the why's and how's of everything.

Also, I think I read somewhere - NO BULLNOSE for counters. We're not that far yet - but why?

liquids will follow the angle of the counter all the way around and then run back underneath to the cabinet front and then bam, down the front of your cabinet.

There really is nothing that the GW KF hasn't figured out. It's an amazing place.

And seriously, if you do Google Search, add Gardenweb to the search and you will find threads on here. The GW search engine isn't, well....the best.

bullnose will bring the drips right to your cabinets.

never mt - yes it's cheap enough on it's own, but super simple to make yourself. I didn't think I even wanted a soap dispenser, but it came with the faucet -- so dh hooked it up. when it came time to refill it (within 3 weeks, I think!), I said NO WAY. I took the soap dispenser apart so I could carry the tube part with me. I **think** I went to Home Depot, but it could have been Lowes. I bought 3 ft of clear plastic tubing that was just sized to the soap dispenser tube. I also got a hose clamp. I think I spent a whopping $3 or 4 total. At home I submerged the end of the plastic tube in boiling water for a minute so I could stretch it over the soap dispenser tube and then secured with a hose clamp.

It works great :-)

oh, and the guy who helped me at the store finding the items thought I was a genius. I'm pretty sure he brought some tubing home to his wife that night. ;-)

We have 2 NeverMT's...one for dish and one for hand soap. I think ours need some tweaking because I have to pump quite a bit, but I love having them

I have a GE Avantium microwave which is a microwave and convection oven combined. Like having a second oven...I really like it.

i have an Avantium oven. It cooks with light and microwaves. It makes the best baked potato on the planet. It will cook and brown a potato in about 5 minutes. Far faster than an oven. I have used it for other items as well, but don't cook at home so much these days. As far as a Silgranite sink, it is made of a granite composite. It is quite durable. I believe Blanco makes them. It is a great alternative to a solid granite sink, as it will be less likely to chip and is non-porous. One of my employees had a black one and loved it. Another friend had a white one and complained that it stained. Based on that small sampling, i would stick to the darker colors. The best part about them is that they are very reasonably priced!

Wondering if a half-bullnose edge will also cause drips to go down on the cabinets like the full bull-nose ones do???

The half-bull (or demi-bull) is a great edge that won't cause the drip problems.

Thanks for asking about the Advantium. I've been curious and after doing a search on Google, found some really terrible reviews of the Advantium 120 (though reviews may have been a bit old). Seems like there were positive reviews of the Advantium 240 which is much more expensive.
Though I was thinking about the Advantium, think I will stick with a relatively inexpensive Microwave ($100-$150) and put it on an open shelf - easy to replace if it fails.

This doesn't solve problem of a second oven which isn't a hard requirement for me but thought it would be nice to have. Think a "nice to have" doesn't justify costs for me - always tradeoffs.

So I will be sure to get a nice range with good size oven that has good reviews and it probably won't be GE since the complaints also were about GE customer service (- note beware of any GE rebate offers, MANY have been tricked - do a google search and find out how).

I just got a $100 GE rebate in the form of a prepaid credit card....I have the advantium 120 and so far no problems, but have only had it 8 weeks. Use the MW everyday...have only baked a few things but they came out just fine. I had GE MW and electric oven for 15 years before the new ones without ever needing a repair.....GE fridge only had ice maker problems...pretty common for all brands...GE DW broke after 6 years..would never buy a GE DW again...
