has anyone used this or done this?

I want to know has anyone ever used the vinyl or clear plastic like the kind you would make for a clear pocket in a tote? How do you iron or sew it on fabric? I guess it would help if I knew right name of the product but I was thinking maybe this would be good to use to make a photo quilt wallhanging?

To make pockets to cover or put the photo in for a wallhanging could could also change the photo that way?

From excavation to finished foundation ready to start framing should take three weeks max., weather permitting. To answer your question - yes, it is possible to polish out the damage and retore your countertop's polish to one of a more acceptable quality. That said, this will depend on the type of stone you have- ie; marble, limestone, granite, gneiss, schist, quartzite, or other types of natural stone - each will have different qualities when it comes to scratching, staining and reistance to chemical attack - such as acids like lemon juice, phosporic acid (active ingredient in Lime Away) This will also depend upon the skill sets of the guy that attempts to do the restoration process. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING FOR A DIY'er...Trust Me!!!! There are many Pro's out there - where do you live? I may be able to refer some folks that could help you - depending upon what city or major area you live in.... let us know Also, there's a great guy named Tom McNall who is probably North America's leading expert in Natural Stone Retoration Tom's company is called Great Northern Stone, he does restoration work all over North America and he trains people to do restoration work at seminars too. Thank you so much Lucille, I appreciate that!! I guess with the bottom, I got off pretty easy because as you can see, it was in reasonably good condition. I just sanded down the original white paint, first with a medium grain paper and then with a really fine paper so everything was good and smooth. I didn’t worry about stripping it because I was going to be using white again. That Behr color is the same color we used for all of our trim and doors and I love it! It’s a very soft and creamy white, so when I found that cabinet, I paid the consigment store to repaint it and requested they use the same color. (They had done a crackle treatment on it that was nothing short of hideous). I love the shabby worn out look but didn’t know if it was right for the room. I went solid first knowing I could sand down the paint here and there if I wanted to age it a bit, but when it was finished I was smitten with it just as it was. Then I went on a chair hunt and found these and thought they were perfect. (Their seats are walnut and the white is a perfect match to the table) I think going with the white bottom would be really lovely with the cherry wood top especially when you consider how much poly work redoing the bottom would take. If you were going for a color that leaned more towards vintage, like a teal or worn red, using one of the specialty paints would make sense, but for white, unless you want that old worn look, I really don’t think it’s necessary, if anything, I’ve found that the latex wears better especially with the table. (It’s a semi gloss and easy to clean) I ended up doing the top of our table a couple of times because I didn’t care for the stain I had used. I also had a couple of poly spots that I didn’t like. For those I used some steel wool to get the spot out of the poly and then I polyed back over it but I didn’t mix it with anything I just used straight non yellowing poly. It’s all trial and error, right? Also, you’re probably already aware but I’ll throw it out there anyways, cherry wood darkens over time, so in the beginning, you should avoid keeping any kind of runner or mat on it for longer periods of time or you’ll have a permenant reminder of them being there. :c)

I just buy the roll vinyl at the fabric shop and sew it on I sew a piece of bias tape around the edge if the edge is showing. I have a billfold I just finished I will post pictures after the Grandboys leave. Easter Bunny was just here and the Grandboys are on there way from Church.. Let the fun begin... grace

I use the heavy vinyl that comes as the package you buy sheets, blankets in. I double over the edge and use a long stitch so it won't cut into the vinyl too much. Works fine for a pocket. JoAnns has the same vinyl as yardage with the oilcloth table covering fabric. But I save packages and it's free.

I have made a wall hanging designed to hold snapshots. To make the pockets I bought acid free plastic covers,[they were flexable] cut the pieces to the size I wanted and zig zaged a decrative boarder around each pc. leaving the top open. It turned out just find. I didn't use an iron on it. My g.daughter is using it in a raffle with her teen friends. Jayne

I use tissue paper wherever the vinyl will touch the machine or foot so you don't have a buy a teflon foot. Then tear the tissue paper away when done.

I've purchased clear vinyl shower curtains for similar purposes. It's a lot cheaper than buying it at a craft store.

I've made pie crust shapers from clear plastic and zippers using a clear vinyl shower curtain from the dollar store. Never did anything special, just sewed with regular thread in the usual way. They have held up for years.

What is a pie crust shaper? I've never been good at pie crusts. Mom just rolled hers out and got them round.

I had a pattern a long time ago for a "Sticker" Vest for a child and made one for my GD. It was out of clear vinyl and (actually any straight cut vest pattern would do) just hemmed the seams with the tape as mentioned by another poster. Also put on a pocket. The pocket was filled with stickers so she could peel them off and put anywhere on her vest she wanted. It was cute and fun to see her use it..I have to find that pattern and post it. sorry for the extra info here!!

Nana, here's a link I found for a shaper. I had to make mine to fit the inside of the large Pyrex casserole dish I use most often. $2.99 is a great price.
