Comments (5)30lbs is not so heavy at all. A couple drywall anchors should do the trick. They are rated for about 45 pounds each. Sometimes we use a toggle bolt with a nut and washers to make an art studio style cleat that prevents the painting from being bumped off the wall. To make this work you use a toggle bolt - two fender washers and a nut. One washer on, then the nut then another washer then the toggle back. This goes in the hole in the wall and gets tightened down. The but keeps the washers apart. I would place this rig about 6"-8" apart. Comments (6)To do that type of framing on a flat bare wall can be done quite easily as a DIY project and would not be expensive to do. First lay out your gride with tape on the wall. Then using boards that are about 1/2 inch thick, 3-4 inches wide and 12 feet long you hang your boards vertically first and then cut and install the horizontal boards next. Comments (0)I'm using select pine 1x4 to make a frame for a large bathroom mirror. (approx 7x3 feet). i'm planning to use sherwin williams semigloss white on it and door and window trim. Can anyone advise what I should do to protect it from water and humidity. Do i prime the wood before painting, do i seal it after painting, do something else?
