Wow seeing all those ideas itltrot I realized I have more stuff than just what's in my basement. I too have pillows stored in closets and cubes and hat boxes with decor stuff in them too. Even two pattern cabinets I purchased when a fabric store I worked at closed. I also have a number of the plastic stacked drawers. Now I want to go through it all and get rid of most of it. I just don't need all that stuff that has been collected for numerous home the past 31 years of marriage and my teen years. Not sure I have anything beyond that unless you count things that were my Mom's. Many great ideas though. Thanks!

The fair way to price is to charge per what a particular size cabinet is. That is, this 30 inch base cabinet in such and such materials is "X" dollars. This particular wood is..., this door style is..., and the extras, such as pull outs and such would be this amount. I'm NOT impressed with the big box store linear foot pricing. I looked at their "high end" cabinets and they were almost $300 a linear foot. Give me a break! The drawyer bottoms look like contact paper over thin "wood". Several years ago it wasn't that way when I I shopped at Home Depot. I can get a high quality custom cabinet maker for less. Needless to say, neither Lowes or Home Depot is getting my kitchen job.

Thank you Olychick. Maybe I just did not understand the post. This is the paragraph I am talking about "Thank you for the suggestion. Designer showcase homes are not to my taste at all.I looked at the designer showcase house on Hopeton (I am sure you know the one) and while the work was fine I guess, it was completely not period correct and the fact that some of the woodwork was painted appalled me (maybe the designers did not do that I don't know). As I walked through (I was thinking about buying it I did not go to the showcase) I kept thinking why on earth would someone take a beautiful 1920s Tudor and desecrate it with that wallpaper! " I thought he was making reference to a home he did not buy.

I want to put a table and chairs there but it looks like the builders installed the light fixture off centered. I suspect they placed it off center to allow for a walking space between the dining table and the island. If you don't care for the fixture -- and I don't either, so plain, doesn't coordinate with the island pendants -- change it, but I would not change the location. Furthermore, if you change the location, you'll probably have to "swag it", and I doubt that's the look for which you're searching. I recommend moving in and actually placing your dining furniture to determine the scale and room needed. Good advice. Go ahead and place your existing table ... then you can judge whether you need something larger /smaller /different shape. Do Nothing now. That "dining space " is too small to be considered one, unless a table for two under the window. Oh, come on. It's not a huge space, but it can certainly hold more than a two-top.
