me i could not afford to keep it at 82 here in south florida.
but u beeing a business owner can probably afford it.
so i say keep it in the 82"s and enjoy it .u only live once

I hear you about the high bills, last summer we topped out @ $800/mo with the newly installed pool and summer bill. We just replaced our AC unit with a new 2 stage w/ dehumidifier, supposedly it will cut our bill by around 30%, maybe then I can argue for the pool heater instead...

If you are working 14 hour days....you more than deserve to keep your pool as "cool" as you want! Happiness is more impt. than money!
Cut back in other areas if possible....there, that is my realistic advice.

Kelly, we're down on the south side of town and I too have been depressed at our 90 degree water temps lately. However, with our little rainstorms the last two days and some cloud cover, our pool is sitting at 84 degrees (with no chiller). I second your WOO HOO!!!! It was awesome today swimming...

I'm jealous, we haven't got a drop in the past few days, a few miles north of us they took afternoon rains two days in a row.

You are a Jandy guy, right? You may want to check out the Pentair VS-3050. It could save you a lot on your electric bills. Maybe you could get Pentair to donate one to you to try out in the hope that you'll offer them to your customers. Just a thought

In the past few years I've placed well over 25 Pentair 3050's with an IntelliTouch and 4x160's with EZ8's into service.
Last year they offered me a free VF pump, but I passed because I've had no problems with my 2 speed pumps.
I think their pumps are really efficient but I haven't had much luck with them on my raised spa, Dust & Vac, and infloor cleaning applications. I've actually had better luck with the 4x160's than the 3050's, because they're
not prone to outfoxing theirselves like the VF series.
Note, my pool isn't like the average homeowners unit, I have almost 120,000 gallons of water and run my circulation with 3 2-speed pumps through 3 60 sq/ft DE filters, 2 400,000 btu propane heaters, 2 heater/chillers, 2 Polaris 280's, 8 water feature pumps, 5 pool lamps, and 2 spa lamps (one in the tub and one in the cave.) It has it's own 200 amp service drop just like my home.

I do appreciate your thinking about me and my situation.
In hindsight I should have probably built a smaller home with only 2 air conditioner systems and a much smaller swimming pool, LOL!!!
This heat is brutal on everything, most especially outdoor construction workers, and everybody's electric bills.

Where in SE TX do you live. We also live in SE TX and want to put a pool in. This site has been very helpful. I know you're not suppose to advertise...but maybe you will feel sorry for me. My husband works for DEEP SOUTH and would love to come home and jump in a pool after working 12-14 hours!! What words of wisdom do you have for me? Salt water, Ozone gen., straight cholrine??

The vs 3050 is the same pump as the 4X160. The VF-3050 is the one that controls GPM.
