Stonescapes mini pebble color

What choice will give me a blue color? I don't want green or brown tint. Just nice clear blue pool.

Almost any of them, from a distance. It's up close that plaster colors are visible.

OMG, I must have jinxed myself. We walked around in the pool today and were puzzled about how it felt -- alot bumpier than we thought it would be. That's when we realized that either our PB or the installer made a big mistake, because we have regular pebbles rather than the mini-pebbles. There's a huge difference between the 2 -- we put the samples we had in the pool and there was no question we didn't have mini-pebbles. The good thing is we have our e-mail where we told the PB our final selection, so it's clearly not our fault. We're waiting to hear what the PB has to say -- they've been great so far, so I know they'll fix it. I just don't relish the thought of what it will take to drain the pool, scrape out the pebbles and re-do it all, so we're trying to decide if we can live with it. We actually really like the look of the larger pebbles, but I'm still not sure I feel like sitting on them in the spa. I'll keep you posted. At the very least, I can show you some pictures of Tahoe Blue regular pebbles, and if we decide to have it redone, I can show you both! There's never a dull moment with a pool build, is there?

They did tell me at one time what they could do after the fact but I don't recall what the process was. I think it was re-shooting some gunite along with using some flagstone to extend out the ledge. I'm sure it was more $$ then the PB wanted to do for it so the PB made some concessions on equipment which we felt worked out. The Tanning ledge will hold two chase chairs...but it's tight and kinda blocks the stairs with one of the chairs. I know it was only a few inches, but the wife was very clear during all meetings that she wanted the ledge a certain way and size. For her the tanning ledge was the pool....she did not really care how the rest of the pool went. To others in the building stage be sure to get your tape measure out during the build and take measurements of those items or features that are size sensitive. If the steps are to be a certain height or width be sure to measure. We did this and I mentioned it to the PB Cost. Manager and he mentioned it to the gunite sub to shoot it out another 12", the sub failed to do this thus the shorter ledge depth. Things happen during major construction projects, even when your on top of them. The good thing is hopefully you have chosen a builder that steps up to the plate and addresses the issues and offers a way to resolve the matter that is workable for the owner. Now to figure out what what style decking to go with....I hate trying to figure this stuff out. :)

I have heard that when you do 2 different colors of mini pebble (sand and tropics blue) that where they edge each other they can bleed and it doesn't look good? We are thinking of doing sand on reef shelf and tropics blue in pool. the plaster guy said he doesn't recommend and if we do want to, too curb reef shelf edge with 1/2 inch of tile to guarantee no bleeding???

My pool hasn’t started yet … but I hear it take awhile for the chemicals to balance. The true color doesn’t always appear from the get go. At least that is what I have read.

Your pool looks great. The color is so blue. I would have never thought that with mauve. Now you got me thinking. Have to pick a color in two days.

Hi andtrevmommy! I really love our Mauve stonescapes mini. I agonized over that decision (along with many others, but probably most about that one selection) and it's the only decision I have not had any regrets about. We looked at several pools our PB had done with stonescapes including midnight blue, tahoe blue, caribbean blue and the mauve. I was originally leaning towards midnight blue, but when I saw one in person I didn't like the way the stones looked, the blue/red pebbles reminded me of fish tank gravel and my husband felt it produced a bit too dark of a water color for his taste (I still LOVE midnight blue stonescape pools though), tahoe blue then came close to being it but I kept having doubts, the pools we saw with tahoe blue were a little less deep in color and ever so slightly twinged with green. The mauve is kinda crazy, check out my original thread, the plaster process was insane, BARNEY EXPLODED in my pool, but the water color is interesting, different, very pretty in my opinion and many of our visitors have commented on the gorgeous water color. We love it. I will warn you, I'm not a fan of seeing the mauve stonescapes close up at the top of the water, it's pinkish to me on steps, that is why we did the flagstone beach entry and why we placed the steps and bench where we did.

Just my 2 cents. I LOVE the mauve! Would do it again in a heartbeat! I'm not in love with the water color after dark with the lights on, it's boring and greenish....I wish we had done the led (?) lights to spice up the color after dark. :)

Okay so now several years down the road any regrets on the mauve StoneScapes? I really love your pool and am considering the mauve color!

I know this post is old but I really want to see if jenno_tx will respond - I can't find any good photos of a mauve mini pebble pool and I would really like to see them! I hope you see this and can re-upload the photos :)
