Does anyone have a ceiling fan in the bathroom?

It gets warm in my vanity area while trying to get ready and put on makeup and am considering putting in a ceiling fan. Would this look bad? There's no window in the room and I'd like some kind of air movement.

We have one with a light kit in the vanity area of the master bath. I'm happy to have it there and don't think it looks bad at all.

We have had ceiling fans in our bathroom in 3 of our last houses and think it looked just fine. The first one DH put up was going to be a 50+ fan but then we decided that would be too large for the room so we went for a 42 inch. Our present bath is not large so he installed the small one that was originally in our family room when we purchased the house. Think I would die without it, sometimes use it even during winter months.
Don't worry about how it will look, go for it and be comfortable.

The Commercial Plumbing codes require a ventilation intake one the wall in the close proximity to and at approximately the same height as the top of the watercloset bowl to remove odors, however that intake is to be in addition too, but not in place of a ceiling vent.

Hi GillyLily, I did a search on the forum and didn't find any pictures with BM Beach Glass (I was curious myself). However, if you go to www.bing.com and select images from the left nav, enter Benjamin Moore Beach Glass, you'll get images returned of rooms that have this paint color. It's a beautiful color!!! Really really pretty. It looks especially good with tans and browns. Let us know what you decide.

No issues with grease as long as you seal your counters and are reasonable about cleaning up after cooking. Oils can sit on the counter for a while, but it’s preferable to not leave them overnight. I’m pretty clean while I’m cooking - if I make a mess, I just clean it up. Anything I don’t want to deal with that night goes in the sink for tomorrow morning. We’ve had some minor etching, but it’s all from other people using the kitchen, not from me. People who should know better...we specifically told our babysitter “nothing acidic” and she put lemon juice on the counter “because it is natural”. A caterer put a container of fruit salad on the counter and left it there and it made an etched ring from the juice. When I personally cook in the kitchen, no issues. if you get a marble counter, would recommend a workstation type of sink where you can put the cutting board inside the sink and keep any acidic mess contained. I love love love my marble counters. They feel so much nicer than quartz. The marble has some variation in it and I think it is so beautiful. It’s nice and cold and just feels REAL. The stains and etching are avoidable if you aren’t a complete slob in the kitchen and are mindful of other people using the kitchen. I would never use it in my beach house where we have tons of guests all the time.

Fan ceiling placement, fan size, climate (dry, arid vs humid), exhaust duct size/length/bends, exhaust wind exposure, quick vs long shower, temperate vs hot shower, there are too many variables. And, an 80-110 CFM fan is small, it's maybe OK for a powder room. I take a temperate, quick shower and I fog the bathroom every time, and that is with a 150 CFM bath fan just outside the shower, an in-line booster fan in the basement, and the bathroom door cracked open. Unless you have a large bathroom and a high capacity exhaust fan, I see fogging the mirror as normal.

Yes, it cuts down on muggy, cuts down on potential mildew by drying areas that might otherwise sit and smolder and mildew. When I finish showering, I open the shower door, throw all dirty clothes in bag to take to laundry room, open the dirty clothes closet, pour a couple caps of Listerine in the shower and a couple in the closet, leave open, turn on fat and let dry. Makes it smell good, dries it up and keeps mildew at bay.

Did you use a fan rated for damp areas, such as an indoor/outdoor fan, or just a regular fan?

I think it's a great idea. I have considered it in my own bathroom. I have a small fan that sits on the counter but I think a ceiling fan would be better.

I had one installed in our bathroom, we have a 18' ceiling in there. Our bathroom never gets enough cool air and I hate getting out of a steamy shower and trying to do hair and makeup. This is the perfect solution, I love it! Mine is rated for indoor use and is on a 6' down rod to bring it closer to normal ceiling height.
