Which fabric do you like best for a sectional sofa?

My family room has been crying out for a sectional since we built this house, but I was adamantly opposed to a sectional. Never liked them....Now, ten years later, I am giving in! I have seen some nice ones on the market and I just think the flow of the room will be better, as well as maximizing the space. I am keeping the black floral wing chair and the Hancock and Moore mocha chair and ottoman.

I have a pretty good idea which one i like the best, but am interested in your opinion(s). The walls are Ben Moore Dijon and I am not repainting. The first and third photo are the same sample:

They all look very similar to me on the screen so it's hard to say. My first thought was that they all look like they are all a chenille type fabric and unless its a super good quality, chenille fabrics tend to pill.

Because sectionals tend to be large, I'm drawn to the last one. Its texture adds some interest. But heck, it's hard to tell on the monitor!

Black leather is very classic and works with many design styles. If that's what you like, go for it. However, the kitchen having a lot of black would make me want to add more color as not to have an overall feeling of everything being dark. So many colors work with black, from sage green to burgundy, yellow or cream, and all look good paired with black accents. If you feel you need black in the living room to tie it together, you can always do it with accents. Our previous home had a family room done with black, white, red and green with touches of yellow. The fabrics were all from Waverly. The main one was Garden Images in black, and the Ballroom plaid with the same colors, along with textured solids. It worked really well. Keep an open mind but remember the only one that really has to be happy with the space is you.

I've looked at so many Room and Board samples and I just haven't been able to find one we like. Maybe it's the small size of the samples, but the fabric just doesn't look so great or durable. We don't like the feel of the microfibers. But I love the look of the Room and Board sectionals. My favorite fabric so far was by Milling Road -- but I don't like the sectionals. So I keep hoping to find a great sectional with beautiful fabric. Is it possible?

Just to update, we finally ordered a sectional from Century. It is L shaped with a loveseat on one wall and a sofa length on the other. The good thing is that it is 43" deep so it should be very comfortable to lay on. We chose a chenille type fabric in a greenish tone. We started the room's decor off by picking 2 oriental rugs and pulling colors from that. The sofa comes with 7 throw pillows, so I chose 2 different fabrics for 4 of those. We'll see if it works or not when it comes in! On another note, once we started to choose decor, we realized the color on the walls was pukey and we had to get the painters back to change from blue to brown. I'm so glad we did that. It really warms up a basement room with no windows. The lighting is what made color selection so tricky. Also in there, we got a leather recliner from Hancock & Moore. And the really neat looking Wisteria Barn door coffee table. Funny thing is that when it arrived, it really did smell like a...barn door! Fortunately that smell has disapated.

i think most people don't move around their furniture much... the only person i knew, who changed her family room up at least once every few moths was my grandma, lol. i don't know why, but she got bored with the layout and constantly switched around her sofa, 2 chairs, coffee table, and tv table. i don't know how she did it, because that stuff was HEAVY ! but again, i don't think it's the norm. some say it's because she was a virgo... from my experience of 17 years in the custom sofa and custom sectional business, most people don't move around their sectional. i can count the "modular" sectionals we made on two hands, so it's rare. and the only way to change your sectional configuration is to make it modular, like this one :) xoxo eva @ MONARCHSOFAS.COM *** FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM

The last fabric looks like the same type of fabric my sectional is covered in. Lukkiirsh is right----mine is pilled and worn looking despite having it just 4 years (and it is just the 2 of us).

Fourth one down is the one I like the best, but it feels a bit taupe-y compared to the colors in the print chair and the walls. Might just be the way the light is hitting on the flat surface of the fabric, versus how it looks draped over a furniture piece.

I would choose the 4th one down too- but it is hard to tell on the computer what the texture is like. I would not be able to have a sectional that color- between me and DH it would be a mess in no time. Do you have a pic of the sectional?

OK,these pictures are a bit better. Which one do you like best with the chairs and wall color? The second and third picture are the same fabric and are appear more taupe, but it is a variation of strands of gold and green that work with the green and yellow/gold in the black floral. I think it is visually interesting and i like the texture. I wish I could get a picture that shows the true color.

The wall color/paint is shown, as well as the sectional sofa. My sectional will be as shown, but with one less section. This line you can customize sofa size, legS, back cushions and arms. Thanks to everyone!

I do not like the large arm as pictured in the sofa. I will go with an English Atm and loose back pillows. I will COM the black floral fabric for two to three pillows to pull the room together. The sofa comes with seven down pillows, which are quite nice. Fringe and trim included!
