I saw a sectional at Ikea I was interested in. It is quite large though and the thing I don't like is that it sits almost to the ground (legs are 1 5/8" high). The seat height is 17 1/2". I was wondering if I could add taller legs. I am taller and the sofa seemed kind of low to me. The main reason though to add height is not being able to see under the sofa makes it seem dense/heavy. If I put on 5" or 6" legs, raising the sofa seat 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 inches, would that be a big deal? I've looked around quite a bit and am having trouble finding a sectional in the right color that will fit my space.

"Breaking the Bank" is not a term anyone can work with. You should define your budget as a realistic dollar range you are willing to spend. As a retailer, I don't know what your budget is and as such can't make a recommendation since I have sectionals in all price ranges. Also, consider posting photos of your space from two different angles into the room as those show the style and decor of the room, plus window and door positions.

In the smaller, more contemporary sofas, LazyBoy makes incliners......as you mentioned, they lift the feet, but the back of the sofa is stationary. It give you the feeling of reclining slightly, as the recliner actually moves forward a bit.

Yes, I would say just start looking at the different companies (they all have websites) listed above and you may find sectionals available within a couple of inches of your desired specs, which would certainly be less expensive, depending on the brand, than having one custom made. I love sectionals and just bought one from Macy’s during their Black Friday sale which was the right size I needed and didn’t break the bank. I had obsessed over the size since our living room is pretty small. Size is important, but not just length . If space is limited, then width, height, and general “bulkiness” are also important. I was considering a higher end, super comfy brand called Lovesac but it was just too big/bulky for my space. So, instead of spending 5000, I spent just a couple of thousand at Macy’s. The other fun thing you can do with a modular sectional is add to it, pretty easily! For example, I may swap out one of my end pieces for a chaise, in a couple of years. Don’t know if this is as easy to do with a custom made…. Good luck!
