My son whittled me a mouse and is so cute. He's more of a woodworker (makes furniture for a hobby) and sculpter (another hobby)

He first made a model out of clay, before carving it in the wood... He called me last night and asked if I wanted blue coveralls on him...Having not seen it, I said no... Of course, now I want the blue coveralls. He said it was too late! I have another clock we made in 2006, that I want a frog crawling up the clock with it's legs hanging down, and his head and front legs coming over the top... His wife said, OH NO!... All he did all week was walk around the house carving the mouse in all the rooms -- dropping wood shavings all over the place.... Plus he gets up 5 O'clock to work on it ! (I can't believe how much like me he is!)

The whiskers are fishing line..the tail is a shoe lace that curls cause he put a wire in the center of the shoe lace...

I turned his head and he took a bite out of the cheese. :)

This is the clock, that we made (also in 2006) that I want a frog crawling over the top...

I have a collection of many frogs, so you see, I really need that frog! :)))

I would loose the lamb for the frog!

Oh my gosh, that is the cutest, sweetest little mouse! Every time I look at him I smile all over again. Your son is very talented. He gave that mouse personality plus. It is so endearing.

I just bought the latest eight last night at the Hosta Library Auction from Naylor Creek for $45.00 + $9.00 shipping. They are already shipped and I should have them on Monday. I have bought a bunch of others as tissue cultures plus I buy many at Hornbaker Gardens an hour or so north of me. On occasion I will find something locally but I have more varieties than the local nurseries. Sometimes I get them through secret hosta swaps plus I do hosta trades once in awhile online.

A baby rat will have a tail shorter than its body. An adult mouse will have a tail longer than its body. (house mouse anyway). Young rats old enough to be off their mother's milk are still larger than an adult mouse. Baby rats have large, rather stubby feet. And the rodent in your picture does not have the snout of a rat of any age. It's some sort of mouse. I have various varieties of mice invade our old farmhouse, it's just part of living in an old farmhouse. The typical house mouse does look different and also has different colour than the field mice migrating from outside to the house in fall. But, they all look rather different than rats of any age.

Hi, i was lay in bed about a week ago and heard a rustling underneath me, having a small dog that likes to roam the house at night i thought nothing of it. When i heard the rustling again and the dog was downstairs i panicked,(scared to death of creepy crawlies..lol.) I called for my husband who was watching television downstairs and we stood and listened for more rustling and there it was again. So my husband armed with the kitchen sweeping brush lifted the bed and a frantically ducked my head underneath and saw a small mouse scurry under the skirting board. So after sleeping on the sofa (lol) the next morning i went and bought some poison and poured it through the hole under the carpet (huge hole, cant believe ive never noticed it)and obviously blocked up the hole. Since then i have noticed dropping in my kitchen near the backdoor, i saw a mouse scurry from behind my fireplace in the living room and can still hear the rustling under the bed but everytime we try and inspect the mouse dissapears. I have phoned my local council (pest control) and they have arranged for someone to come out on monday afternoon. I'm such a puff and am frightened to stay in my home (My husband is worse than me) but we also have a 2 year old daughter and it is hard to stay with friendsand family but i cannot sleep knowing there their. Any idea how long it will take for all the mice to be gone with a exterminator coming in? in the mean time i have put poison down but am restricted to where i can put it due to having a child and a dog. HELP!?!?! im so frustrated by it all.

Thanks for enjoying the story of the lucky mouse, everybody. I had fun telling it. Haley, I'm sorry I confused the kids, but that was a cute little picture of happy mice and I just grabbed it fast. I didn't want anything too graphic or scary because I know a lot of people are freaked out by mice. Tell the kids our mouse was the best man, he was late and he was holding the ring for the groom! He was lucky to make the wedding in time. Gayle, our friends in CO have a country home that stands empty for much of the year. They experience occasional mice problems and we set up garbage can traps all over the place and catch several every night when we're there. I put stuff like raspberries, nuts, etc in the can and put it next to something like a chair. They climb the chair and jump down into the can and are trapped. Then Woody takes them for a drive and releases them far away from the house. And mom had a problem one year when dad was out of town and she caught about 12 of them like that in a week. We were laughing though, because we figured it was the same mouse, over and over, because she only took them 100 yards from the house to release them. I can't remember the last time we used a real snap trap- with 3 cats, I'm not willing to risk a smashed paw or nose AND I don't like to kill mice, I think they have every right to live just like I do. Well, not JUST like I live, not in my house. Oh, you know what I mean! lol Mouse mom. Yep, I had the African Pygmy Dormice for a while and then I bottle raised "Country Bumpkin" for a couple of weeks until she escaped. Ingrate. lol She had a wheel and everything! I like mice, they're little and I think they're cute. Love those little whiskers and twitchy noses, too.

Why is it that your mouse is so darn cute and the one I found in my bathtub yesterday wasn't??

Thank you Ladies :) After my son placed him in the mouse hole he said, "how did you have that clock for so long without that mouse!?!" :)))
Our 3 yo grandson (his son) named him Rabbit...

he is a treasure, and brought back HUGE Memories for me, when i was a child i whittled nearly the same mouse..big ears and all..but i whittled it out of soap..for my mom..wish I knew what happened to it ..it was so cute and i was so proud..
